Pretty in pink!

I have this lovely little tree out front. I don’t know what it’s called, but it has the most amazing pink blossoms you ever did see. The pink just cheers me up whenever it’s in bloom.

But the arrival of spring is taking it’s dear sweet time this year. We are still getting fresh snow each morning on our nearby mountains, so it’s chilly out!

Well, I had had enough of this crazy train rain, so I brought a little spring cheer into my own step.

I went and treated myself to some pretty pink toes at the salon.

It’s too early in the season for a summer pedicure, but I didn’t care. I got a spring one instead.

Know what? It’s such a small thing, a pedicure is. BUT… it’s made a world of difference in my disposition. It’s kind of like decorating one room in your home to perfection. You have that one thing you can gravitate towards, appreciate and enjoy.

I generally not much of a girlie girl, but just this once, it’s fun to be pretty in pink!

Got your 2012 pedicure yet? Go on, you deserve it!

  1. I love that shade of pink for nail polish. So pretty! I desperately need one, but I’m going to wait until May.

We’ve had lots of unseasonable warm weather here in northern Indiana. So much so that it has matured the spring flowers too fast and the daffodils were done in 3-5 days. It has cooled off closer to normal now and the flowers are lasting much longer.

  2. Oh those pink blossoms are beautiful! Love the pedi color as well. As with the reader ^above I’m also from IN and yesterday it was 79 and today possibly a mere 60 (or below) so you can never tell if it’s going to be sandal weather or not. However, I did get my pedi…went with my current fave…coral!

  3. Sweet! I am so glad we are finally having some spring weather here and more expected for the weekend and I have an extra long weekend – yaaaaaaaaay!

Gorgeous photos Donna! Thanks for sharing.

  4. Good Morning Donna! Those sure are some pretty pink flowers! I don’t know what they are called either, but I sure Love that color! I never had a pedicure or a manicure before. I have 3 boys…so I have never done anything like that for myself, Lol! Now that 2 of them are in their 20′s, maybe I should! Enjoy your day!

    • Sandi, last summer was my first ever pedicure. I’m forever hooked! I asked how often someone should get this done and one place said every month. Well… wow… that won’t happen but at least twice a year it sure will. :)

  5. First time I have commented on your blog, though I have been following Funky Junk for several weeks. I live in South Carolina and have not even pulled out my heavy winter sweaters! It has been a mostly shorts and long sleeve t-shirt weather. It has gotten to ninety already – I hate to think what we are in for later in the year. I mainly wanted to write and tell you how much you have inspired me. I have been painting and collecting primitive and vintage things for decades, but I really did not know there were so many folks out there who were rust goddesses like myself. Since following you, I have revamped my booth at an antique mall, started selling on eBay, and yesterday started a blog. (Distressed Donna Down Home – yes, I am Donna also!) So-o-o-o – THANK YOU THANK YOU – You certainly have pinked up my life!!!

  6. Ooh pretty pink blooms! Thanks for sharing and cheering up my morning!

Ps: You’re right about the pedi! We all deserve one!!

  7. just recently discovered your blog and enjoy reading it, funny, I was looking forward to treating myself this week as well (pedicure and manicure), it is my “spring break” and pink will be the color, maybe an orange/pink, and VERY BRIGHT

  8. Doesn’t it make you feel so special. I am getting one before my vacation the end of May…hummm, you are making me wonder why I am waiting…it snowed again today. I think I need to get a pedicure..NOW!

  9. Hi!
In French it’s called “groseillier à fleurs” (I have several of them in my garden and they are blooming as well here in Brittany). I have no idea what the English name is, but it means something like “red-currant bush with flowers only”, I guess it’s because they have the same leaves, though not the same flowers… According to wikipedia which I just checked it’s called red-flowering currant in English, I wasn’t that far!!! I’m still reading your blog, even if I don’t comment, by lack of time… Oh, I just read the above comment… which explained everything way better than me!!

  10. oh, there will be painted toes a plenty come Sunday! Easter seems to be the “coming out party for winter toes” around her! ;} but i think i’ll keep my ghastly ghostly fred flinstones covered a while longer! ;}
i hope you have a truly blessed Easter!!!

    m ^..^

  11. I treat myself every month all year round.I never did before. But I do now.I is a time just for me.And my toes and feet always look fab even in the driest of winters.

  12. I got a much needed pedicure about 6 weeks ago. Unfortunately I have still not gotten around to taking off the bits of polish that are still left! My poor toes just never get any time! :)

  13. Hiya Donna, that’s Ribes sanguineum (Flowering Currant or Red-flowering Currant). It’s a species of currant native to western coastal North America from central British Columbia south to central California.

    It sure is cheery!

  14. Pedicures are the best! Such a wonderful way to treat ourselves. I used to think they were silly, but now I’m addicted. And that tree in bloom would cheer anyone up. Thanks for sharing. We’re still weeks away from buds, let alone blooms, here.
