Window shutters have come a long way from simply flanking a window!

Especially in the upcycling world we live in now. Old window shutters are magical to create with, since they’re an already built component.

Window shutters are wonderful backdrops, which can be used on mantels, as a headboard and SO much more!

Distressing Shutters – Under a Pile of Scrap!

I love the distressed treatment on these old shutters. This set also works extremely well brighting up a darker rocked fireplace mantel. What a perfect backdrop to showcase that fabulous wreath!

If you want instant character to a space, tall shutters that nearly reach the ceiling will provide! I adore that these are actually acting as headboards. Aren’t they stunning in this setting?

  1. Donna,
I made it to your party this week, so excited. Normally I’m so late that I just wait until another time.
Love all those shutters, will give me something to drool over. I have some old ones just waiting for me to decide what to do with them. I’m off to look at some great ideas to ponder.
Thanks so much for hosting and have a great weekend!

  2. You have the best blog layout! Every time I log on I am so impressed by how unique it is. I am thinking about getting some help to customize mine more. Anyway, that is an aside! What I really want to do is to thank you for another great party. Blessings, Patti@OldThingsNew

  3. Thank you for hosting, Donna! I’ve seen the shutters above Shirley’s (Housepitality Designs) mantle in person and they are truly fabulous. Her picture is great, but it doesn’t do them justice. They are amazing! Sure do wish I was going to be able to go to Lucketts to see you!

  4. Thanks for hosting the party again this week. You are really making me want to go out and buy some shutters now. Some of those ideas are really cute. Wonder if the Habitat Restore has any . . .

  5. I’m ECSTATIC that you featured my distressed mantel shutters for your Shutter themed party, Donna! Thank you so much! I love all the other shutters you featured as well! Can’t wait to get even more inspiration from the party. 🙂

  6. Donna,
I love this post. I am looking for ideas for a headboard for my master bedroom. I have been thinking about using old doors but have not had any success finding them. This would be a great alternative for me.

  7. Thank you so much for hosting Donna! I cannot wait to look at all of the gorgeous shutters and pretty projects linked up. Have a wonderful weekend 🙂

  9. Thanks for hosting Donna! Yay! I actually had a post from last week I could link up to your ‘feature’ of old shutters! I had found some plantation shutters on Craig’s list! Finally, my timing worked out for your feature, but I’m late linking up because I’ve been on the road traveling… oh well, can’t win them all. 🙂 btw: I’m enjoying following you on Bloglovin’ Little Bit
