…ap. Ah… another day…  ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ”

Me – How do I possibly put into words what these two tuxedo cats are doing to my life? Oh my.

We all have stress in our lives, no matter what our situations are. It’s so easy to get caught up in utter nonsense that just doesn’t matter.

What brings me out of that nonsense are my two therapists, Lake and Skye.

I have a confession though. They are never called that. Wanna know what slips out instead?!

I’m sorry kitties, for ruining you with baby talk names! But… it is what it is.

Dear Lakey and Girly Girl… and then there’s… (get ready for it) Meat & Potatoes (big guy) and Carrots (little girl). Forgive me, cats!

Anyway, any cat or pet person knows what I’m talking about. The unconditional love these two offer is unexplainable. Any stress you’ve felt a moment ago just melts away when one comes hopping on your lap for a cuddle or stretches in front of you with a quirky pose.  They know what they are doing!

I doubted myself when I first got them. Here we are, in the brink of summer where we could romp all over the land, and then we get two kittens that need us. Where’s the sanity in that?!

It soon became apparent that we could incorporate them with our travels. They did so exceptionally well when we took the cats camping! We got them use to the trailer before hand, and I’m telling you, the trailer is like their 2nd home. They adored it and had it better than in the house when we could turn on the air conditioner for them during a mini heat wave.

Even a month has made them so much more mature. They know where home is, who we are, and have officially discovered all the nooks and crannies in the house. Nothing makes me laugh more than when one comes around a corner FULL of dust on their face. They are housecleaners too it appears. 🙂

As for sleepers? Weeeelllll…..

During our camping trip, we discovered they like to ZOOM first thing in the AM. Picture a hot wheels car being let go at top speed and racing across one single track so fast it’s a blur.

These two discovered the wonderful new adventure of ZOOMING across the trailer each morning. And it didn’t matter what was in their way.

At one point with the ZOOM going on, I’m laying there killing myself with silent laughter thinking my son was sleeping, but he ever so quietly got up, went to the bathroom and emerged with two shirts wrapped tightly around his head. Then silently laid down and…

ZOOM ZOOOM ZOOOOOOM HEAD ZOOOOOM ZOOOM ZOOOOOOM

“Mom… I want to go home…”

🙂

Thanks for asking about the cats! I’ll have a chat with them about a more regular feature as they tell their story in their own way. Stay tuned for more cat chaos….

coming ZOOM! (sorry, had to)

  1. I have a black and white tuxedo cat like your and I think they could be related…aren’t they just the most curious funnest little sweeties…I loved your post and the wonderful pictures of your little sweetie…

  2. Aw, so cute. I miss my Vancouver cats. One, Morgan, is black and white but more like an upside down skunk. She’s lately being called “Zola” because she’s a little monster and loves people food and somehow someone named her “Morganzola” after she was begging for Gorgonzola cheese and that got the usual family abbreviation to Zola or just Zo. Mine love baskets too. And boxes and drawers left partially open, and underneath duvets or quilts, behind curtains and sometimes even in the bathroom sink. 🙂

  3. Thanks for the update!! What a great way to start a Monday morning. I look forward to more of these critters’ shenanigans 😉

  4. People who have never had a cat, or maybe had a cat but only in name, cannot possibly understand the unconditional love they give each and every minute of each and every day. Those folks don’t understand the smiles and giggles they eek out of their humans with their kitty humor and kitty gymnastics.

I share my home and life with dogs, too, and love them deep – really deep. But the clowns of my house are my cats who bring humor into the most mundane days and cuddles into the most dreary of times.

  5. awwwh Donna they just melted my heart all over again! the first pic basket kitty, is now my desk top pic 🙂 so comfy, when cats feel totally comfy & safe at home they will roll on their backs to show their belly
(for belly loves of course!) thanks for the soom soom updates! love it, keep em coming!

  6. The pictures are adorable. I love that their markings are opposite each other! How cool! Your little “Lake” looks just like my “Cricket” only “Cricket” is a long haired cat. You can see her at the top of my blog, she keeps a watch over the postings (which are way behind). http://worksfromtheattic.blogspot.com/

Thanks for updating us on your new additions to the family!

  7. Great photos! I have a tuxedo cat too named Opie. This little quirky cat is so full of love who loves to sit on my shoulders/head when I am at the computer, but also fetches toys!

  8. I’m a kitty lover and yours are precious. They certainly have unconditional love. Always at the door when you come home it’s almost like the have a sixth sense when you just might need a pick me up. We’ve had several through the years and always think of them. Right now we have a rescue from the animal shelter, Little Kitty. She’s like my little helper when I’m at my sewing machine. Sits right behind my machine sleeping away. Thanks for sharing.

  9. What a fun story about your kitties! I’ve got the same cat habit and can’t live without them. One of mine is a tuxedo, too. Her name is Bonnie. I adopted her and her brother at the same time. His name? Well, Clyde, of course. 🙂

  10. I got a kitten about 4 weeks ago. He never stops moving. Never. He runs circles around my head while I am working at my laptop. He wants so badly to play with his 10 year old, very sedentary, sister. She just looks as us and says “why on earth did you bring this spaz into MY house?” I can’t wait until the kitten is old enough to sit still!

  11. Love your cats. They have the sweetest faces. My boy is a big, orange moggie called Ralph, after Ralph mouth, as he talks so much. He’s an indoor cat but is allowed out in the garden on his lead where he’ll sit and sniff the breeze and talk very loudly to no one in particular. Always makes me smile.

    • Ohhhh the talking! Teddy was like that too, but it was her thyroid that made her crazy talkative. (heads up for cats that get very vocal later in life!) Ralph sounds like quite a rascal. 🙂

  12. I have a black kitty named Pumpkin. She is evil sometimes. But sometimes she is good. Maybe if she had more white on her like yours, she would be good all the time. Love your photos of your kitties!

  13. Your kitties are so photogenic! I love the last picture 🙂 You all hit the jackpot having each other .. pure joy, pure love all the way around! I love seeing pictures of them and hearing about them and hearing in your words how happy you are 🙂 These are my favorite posts, these and your travels!

  14. Those cute rescues look so happy and comfortable with you! Sometimes I wonder who rescues whom. I do have the same problem taking pictures of my kittens. They come right up to the camera and start playing with it!

  15. Finally! Thanks so much for this post. I can finally prove that I’m not the only cat pawrent to talk baby-talk to her kitties. I sometimes get “that look” that only husbands can give with a comment about baby-talking to the kitties. Well, my answer to that is that the boys are never going to speak human language so I can talk baby talk if I want. One doesn’t get the chance with our own babies because they will be talking so no bad habits allowed. So, anyone who objects can simply cover their ears!
