So remember my epic fall bikeride through bear and train country in Part 1?

Welcome to Part 2 – A trip to the local industrial coffee shop. My well earned reward for all that hard work I did prior!

If you follow me on Instagram stories, you’ll have seen lots of shots of my new fav local haunt. When the old deli in town was being renovated, I had secretly hoped it would morph into a true blue coffee shop.

And… little did I know, I was about to get my wish. PLUSSSSSSS!

When the place was being renovated, I’d take my dear, sweet time riding past this place, hoping some of the windows would be uncovered.

Because what I WAS seeing was driving me into a bit of a junk lovin’ frenzy.

Welcome to HazelSprings Organic Bakery, located in Chilliwack, British Columbia, Canada. In the small district of Yarrow to be exact.

But as you can see, reclaimed wood and rustic, industrial ambiance is alive and well in this sweet place.

It is the PERFECT coffee shop, with homemade soup, baked from scratch cookies (that are partially done, just the way I LOVE them), organic bread, desserts, paninis, (the turkey bacon is my fav), and more.

And good strong coffee with muscle!

This little town is… little. But this place is generally hopping, because everything inside is just that good.

I often bypass making lunch and dinner, and come here midday instead, to tag both meals in one sitting.

This wood wall treatment is spectacular. The planks shoot off in different directions by section. Hard to explain, until you study them.

My fav place to sit, if it’s avail, is against the wall at the little red table beside the window. The windows are so large, you feel like you’re sitting outside. Yet you get all the pretty perks of still being in.

Here we are looking towards the back.

It isn’t a huge place, but it is perfect! It is roomy, but cozy at the same time.

The front counters are created from metal siding that came off an old barn. Every time I get near it, I want to order THAT for lunch.

The rusted tones are out of this world.

And pipes. Lots and lots of pipe details.

Look up to the right, and you’ll notice the bread baskets are inside a tilted pipe shelf too. It’s gorgeous!

The lighting fascinates me. I have a similar feel running above my kitchen windows that resembles black metal.

I really like these wood planks! It’s just so… simple!

They sell some stuff too. Probably because nearly everyone BEGS to buy their look.

The glass mugs that look like enamel wear will be coming in this house soon. I’m still deciding if I want greige, aqua, or deep red.

I think a set of red for Christmas… and greige for everyday.

And aqua when I feel aqua-ish?

Don’t even give me choices…

And before you scroll on, check out that itty bitty coke machine! Isn’t it cool? I just want to pet it! It has a really neat vintage vibe.

And of course, there’s coffee. I love the dark roast. It gives you a pretty good hit.

There is also a small back room that is so very cool.

The wall planks… and the lighting… wimper…

There’s also one super private booth towards the back, that is surrounded by old doors.

But… I mean… this. It’s so perfect.

Boy oh boy, if I was a welder…

Never mind. What’s this contractor’s number? (I plan to find out)

The little industrial cart is across the room from the private door booth. I just want to push that thing home whenever I pour my ice cold lemon infused water (always in a jug), while loading up my coffee with cream and sugar.

Sigh… is it any surprise why I am here a little too much?

If you ever come and visit me, you KNOW where I’ll suggest to meet up…

Another cool place to check out my way is junk filled Mission Springs Brewing Company <— take the blog post tour! You’ll love it.

And this is why I called it Part 2. I couldn’t stop taking pictures!

  2. you know I’m going to love all of this…they did an amazing job! the front counter tin…love! the ladies sign made me laugh and I’d love a few mugs!

  3. I love this especially how they did the lights on the ceiling. This is yet another reason why I love small business. It’s so original and it’s where the heart of creativity is expressed. Fantastic and thank you for sharing this was inspiring.

  4. I zeroed in on that tiny coke machine! Also that vintage black phone on the wall by the cart. I’ve never seen one like that. I can see why you spend time here. It is really cool and I’m not into junk the way you are Donna so you must be in junk heaven. Thanks for sharing.

  5. That’s a lovely place Donna. There’s a place or two in this industrial chic vein over here in North Van too. So comfortable to hang out in because nothing is so precious, you know, pristine, lined up…feels so easy to be there.

  6. OMG… how adorable ~ it looks like you designed and decorated it.

I think your signs and trays with your stencils on it would sell great in there. I think you should inquire about it. 🙂

  7. OH MY GOODNESS and SHUT MY MOUTH. What a place!!!!! I am afraid I would never leave!!! Sure got some good ideas from it.

  8. Speechless! My heart is going pitter, patter, panting, oh gosh, I LOVE you, little coffee shop! When you’re done with the contractor, maybe I could fly him/her across the United States to redo my home. It’s an awesome place and understandable why you spend time there.

  9. WOW!!! What a cool little place. Much better than any Starbucks! Love everything about it. The little private table is adorable, the lighting is amazing, the wood on the ceiling, the wood planked walls….just everything. I want to live there! Thank you so much for sharing.

  10. Yessss, I love this post and I love the coffee shop. I almost felt like I was there. The blend of vintage/industrial/farmy style works so well and it makes it really unique. A lot of places try too hard and look a bit contrived I think, but this has super-creative features that are gorgeous! I wish I lived near so I could come visit, Ness x PS This is inspiring for my “junk room”…

PPS I LOVE that old oven
