Stencilled snowflake pillow on the new sofa

In November, I picked up the Stocksund sofa and two chairs from Ikea. My 20 year old (bad) junk just had to go.

But being cautious me, I purchased the new stuff and put it together before I got rid of the old.

All in the same room. At the same time.

Goodness. This place was FULL. I had to shove the monstrous old sofa in front of my blog office desk so I had room for the rest. That was a fun week.

So right after the new stuff was put together, I was giddy!

Then, while decorating for Christmas, I fell in love with the black and white theme, and wanted it to stay.

But wouldn’t a snowflake pillow look so good right in the middle of it all?

Oh, the beauty of stencilling…

I know I sound like a walking Ikea advertisement lately, but let a junker loose in a retail store that sells stuff you can DIY with, and she may go a little crazy!

Ikea sells these 20″ amazing pillow covers and feather inserts that I just love! So I made sure I purchased a few plain covers so I could play.

The inserts come in poly or feather, but I always go feather. They are fabulous, and schmush up so nice.

Before the paint hit the fabric, a cutting board was slipped inside the pillow case to prevent the paint soaking through to the other side.

I need not have worried. The stencil brush was super dry, so the paint didn’t even seep through the first layer of fabric.

The snowflakes were stencilled very randomly on one side of the cover.

I figured I could save the other side for another theme!

Goodness, the pillow turned out so good! I’m amazed that it doesn’t look like a DIY project, know what I mean?

Fabric is a breeze to stencil on because the paint seeps in, vs smudging where it shouldn’t.

I’ll be sure and let you know how the painted cover washes up when / if I get that far.

I am REALLY loving the new sofa! It has a much smaller profile than my other big lug , but it fits the room really nice. It’s called a mid size, and I love it because it only has 4 legs, which makes it easy to slip a rug partly underneath if desired.

And I’m rather ecstatic I’m no longer embarrassed to show you around the entire room!

Here’s one of the matching chairs I showed you awhile back. Cute stuff!

But I must show you ONE more picture before you go…

Can you see him?

It’s a little like playing Where’s Waldo, cat style.

Schmush. That’s Lake’s new fav place to sleep.

Ah well. I love him, so he can schmush the cushions all he wants. within reason

Plus… he matches my new pillows…

What more could I ask for?
