As you can see, I’m no minimalist when it comes to this Coca Cola Christmas fireplace mantel.
And this year is no exception. My Coca Cola star inspired design was a direct result of a lucky recent find. The black metal Cola Cola sign had just come home from a recent trip at Granny and Grumpa’s.
How I did it
The evergreens I had available to me were of the flat variety, so in order to get such a full look, I pulled a few tricks.
The sign was first put into place, then the branches were layered. But with flat branches, it helped to stand many on their sides so you could appreciate them.
My first attempt was weak and I had to redo it. The scale of this fireplace is always screaming for more.
Here you can see more of the layering. The branches behind the sign are on their sides so they filled up the space with as much green as possible.
And I stuck them in like crazy from the front too. Here’s a side view of the overhang.
Ok, we are ready to spray on some snow and decorate!
The greens were sprayed in a heavy handed sort of spotty way where snow would naturally land and stay put.
Then stars and spent hydrangeas were tucked into place along with loosely hung mini lights.
Hey, wanna see it at night? It’s really glowy.
One total casual messy loose junk styled Christmas fireplace mantel.
It’s a little crazy, but I’m liking it just fine. 🙂
Here’s my last year’s fireplace mantel.
Look who’s here! The 12 Days of Christmas’ gang’s got some new stuff today.
See you tomorrow for Day 3!
Gorgeous! You oughta be paid by Coca Cola, no advertising agency could do it better than this.
Love your junk style mantel!
I like it just fine too! This year I used a combo of fake greens and real ones. I love all of your Christmas ideas, the rustic theme is just what I like!

Love all the details! Such a great wintery look, Donna!
What a fun idea! You had me at the snow 🙂 That rock fireplace is amazing!
Thank you so much for inspiring me today!

I love it. I’m a fan of Coke so this is just perfect. Thanks for sharing. Hugs.
Oh Man do I miss my fireplace! My home has a Vermont Castings wood burning stove instead of a fireplace. It can heat most of my home and send us out in the snow with our bathing suits on it gets so warm, but you can’t decorate it like you can a mantle. Anyway….. What I really want to say is I love love love your mantle so much. Coca Cola has a special place in my heart anyway (I think it’s a ‘southern’ thing) and your mantle is so cool! I just love it. If there is a mantle contest – I vote for you Donna!
Its wonderful! Coke is our family’s favorite! karen…
looks so good love it more than last year but i love all the greenery so that may be why. ang
I think it looks great! I have not done our mantle yet, but it’s so narrow I can’t get too much on it. But I have fun trying! Love your old sled…and that Coke sign…awesome!
Debbie 🙂
Beautiful! What a clever idea to use the old sign, I would have never thought of that. Also I like the way you sprayed your greens with snow, it adds a nice touch. Stone fireplaces can be so overpowering to a room, your looks awesome!
Donna love your mantle! Love the greens, the coca cola sign and crate LOVE it all! So rustic and woodsy!
xx

It looks great Donna! You have such a talent to put things together and come up with something fantastic and original!
I saw a coke sign and I smiled! What a fabulous mantel Donna!
Your coke sign and my 7-Up sign need to get together for a playdate.

Adore your mantel! I have never seen a Coca Cola sign in black and white – love it! It makes the perfect backdrop for your greens and other items. I really like how you tied in the Coke theme with the crate used for wood and the old sled is fantastic! I still have mine from childhood! I have my old ice skates too and am going to use them this year. Enjoy your decorating! Hugs, Leena
I love it Donna! It is beautiful and whimsical! Best of all it has a homespun quality that I love to see, especially at Christmas time! I hope you and your son enjoy this wonderful month!!
Love it! It looks like a cozy cabin that’s been there for generations. Nice job!
What a lovely fireplace I love how you incorporated Coca Cola into your Christmas decorating my dad would have loved it to.
Denise
I love your creativity. I thought I finshed by Christmas decorating today but I think you have inspired me to redo my mantle. Mine looks too traditional and boring so tomorrow I ll be hacking up some of my evergreens in the paddocks – looking forward to tomorrow’s ideas! Sharon at weebreezefarm@gmail.com
is there a trick to the vintage tape measure star? I have collected several since last Christmas that I want to use.
Thanks

GORGEOUS!!
Hi, I have had that same sign for years and have not been able to get any info on it off of the net. It is actually one of a set of two, I have both signs in much better condition. If you have or know where I can get any info on this could you please send me an e-mail.
Hi Mindy, I know nothing about it, sorry. Found it at an antique place.
It’s gorgeous. I really really love it. Thanks for sharing.
Beautiful mantle!! Perfect again!, your designs are so amazing and inspiring. I am getting ready to decorate my church’s sanctuary for Christmas. Similar look and theme this year to your mantle. How long did your fresh greenery last? Any idea what kind it was? I have a very limited church budget!
Hi Mandie! I spent zero on the mantel. I cut greens off some evergreen trees, sprayed them with spray snow and decorated with what I had. The greens lasted all Christmas, although they got very crispy. It didn’t seem to matter, they still stayed green and beautiful! I would just avoid turning on the lights as they dried out.
