I knew it would happens soon. The wind was starting to kick up, and the grapevine was turning vibrant!
But in no time, every leaf would be gone. So it was time to RUN outdoors to take one last shed shoot of the season… fall style.
But what enticed me out there the most was a recent, abundant mother lode of pretty pumpkins and fall chrysanthemums from a local farm. Take that tour HERE.
The shed was my first target. I dashed out there with a mum in hand, but the grounds were so messy, I decided I’d do the front door first. Faster!
I was so trusting, that the wind would cooperate for a few more hours…
Oh I had fun! When I picked out all those mums and pumpkins, I had the front of the house colours in mind.
The blue front door is such a great contrast of temperature and tones against those gorgeous, warm reds!
Grabbing every galvanized bucket I had, with a few rusty junk relics and such for good measure, the flowers and pumpkins were layered for varying height.
Very simple, very nature.
I mean, with the size of that gorgeous salmon coloured chrysanthemum, what more do you really need?!
The giant spring was found at a shopping trip at Rusty’s.
My front doorway is very fall happy!
And then it was time to revisit the shed.
On this given day, as I wrote above, the grapevine leaves were falling FAST.
And just as I started to go find the rake, I stopped.
It was very tempting to clean up the yard just so for the shoot, but then I told myself… you may lose the leaves. Plus.. nature has staged it perfectly! Shoot it as is.”
So I plunked a salmon mum on the potting bench, and went for it. Au natural. I did not touch a thing.
I love how the grapevine wraps around the entire front and top of the garden shed.
Chaotic fall, I love you so.

Wow! That’s some beautiful natural beauty.
You have so many neat elements of surprise at your place and those mums are gorgeous. Don’t forget when they’re done blooming you can plant them in a flower bed. Just cut them back to the base and they’ll grow back next season. Mine normally bloom again from June – Fall. Grapevine – Love it I’m thinking Christmas there… I think I need to plant grapes too. Enjoyed!!

My yard is a blaze of red and orange right now. It is such a pretty time of year….of course in a couple of weeks we will be putting out Christmas.

I love nature au-naturel and your mums are fabulous. I do plant mine in my garden. But to get them to bloom in abundance in Fall I cut them back by half in early July and they have a heavy bloom in Fall without getting too tall and leggy otherwise mine flop over from the weight of the heavy bloom. You can also keep them in the pot, I have some still in their pots and I treat them the same, cut them back by half in early July and they are blooming away still.

Mother nature is its own best decorator. It’s awesome you found a teal pumpkin. I have never seen one. Rare. The photos of your yard are really wonderful. Fall is my favorite season. The climbing vine is beautiful.
Mother Nature really does put on the most gorgeous displays, you couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful setting. Wow and those chrysanthemums are stunning, stunning, stunning. Love the color. I’d spend all my time outside in your lovely garden just soaking up all that prettiness
