I have a relationship with barbed wire from my past. It circled our farmland attempting to keep the cows in the field. It didn’t always work, and sometimes we even ran into it by mistake. Ouch! So yeah, it’s prickly and can be rather dangerous. However, if careful, it’s cool to look at and fun to play with!

Just wear gloves. 🙂

So what to do with it? I just have a simple little circle of it I found like this.

And it ended up…

junk mantel

… on my junk inspired mantel,

fall mantel

… as a wreath on the fall mantel,

Christmas 2011 mantel

… just for some rusty fun on the Christmas mantel,

horse gate headboard

… and finally, on my headboard to chime in with the outdoor theme.

Love the simple look of your barbed wire wreath. Dress it up or not at all, so charming. Had to take a look at your Pinterest board too; my favorite is the barbed wire trellis.

Another late, but great night. I could not find any rusty barbed wire for something I have wanted to do. I will post it later. I did post what I worked on this week – always busy, always thrifting! I do want to know one thing. What kind of message is being sent with barbed wire on the headboard?

Hey Donna!

Good to see you back! 🙂 There’s nothing to worry about the barbed wire on the headboard… one has to stand on the bed in order to even reach it. I made sure. 🙂 I of course would recommend all barbed wire projects are well out of the reach of children and out of harms way for all.
