Welcome to Saturday Nite Special, the multi themed DIY link party!

* Home Decor / Gardening

 * Crafts, / Sewing / Recipes / Printables / Blog tips

* Theme of the week

Every Fri 7pm  to Sunday 11 pm Pacific.

Being that the kids are now back in school, I’ve been thinking of ways to spruce up my son’s desk in his room. I mean, the one I need to make first. Then enhance.

I sure wish I had a new one to show you today (which had been my intent!) but until I do, here are the two I have made out of junk along with matching accessories.

This all wood desk made from scratch resides in my downstairs office / sign shop. It’s one massive stretch of room, which fit the picture window perfectly. To the right you’ll see a big tall picket that organizes telephone needs.

 Accessories: a coke crate organizes the pens and pencils, while the other side houses ‘the ironing board’ light. And the files are neatly tucked away between two brackets and a random chunk of wood.

pallet wood sawhorse ladder desk

This desk was created with sawhorses for legs, a ladder for the frame and pallet wood screwed to the top. I’ve attempted to modify it many times over the years but I keep coming back to this. It just works. 🙂

Accessories: junk galore. A meat grinder and big rusty cogs offer a place for the pens and pencils and the wall unit behind the desk holds the rest.

But there is one junk styled office my mind always wanders back to. And that’s Beth at Patina White. This is not an office you can fully appreciate with one room shot. No way.

Beth’s collection gives repurposing a new meaning. Lots of thought has been put into every nook and cranny and it’s worth your time to click and check it out if you’re after ideas. This stuff just makes me happy! 🙂

  1. Thanks for hosting, Donna! I always LOVE seeing your office! We just finished our Office Desk, we put barn doors on the top. I’m thrilled with it. Now I think I need to add some junky things to it!
    ~Liz

  2. Hello Donna: Thank you for hosting the party tonight. I love those offices that you showcased–some of them remind me a little bit of steampunk. I am getting ready to redo my hubby’s office in this style, so I love the ideas and inspiration in those pictures!

  3. My office/guest room is “full of junk” right now…but not in the good way 😉 Too many unfinished projects stashed there!! When I finally get me dream office/studio someday…I’ll be visitng yours and Patina White’s for inspiration!! I linked up a little junky ribbon storage idea in HOme decor. Thanks for hosting 🙂 Laurel

  4. Patina White’s office is gorgeous. Thank you for hosting the party. I put my entry in the office section, but if it’s not “officey” enough you can move it up the Home Decor. I had thoughts of photographing my entire office for your party, but then I’d have to dust.

  5. Dear Donna-

    I’m sorry that I accidentally linked up my 8 Can Taco Soup in the Home Decor section. I promise I read the group titles before I started linking up, I just wasn’t paying attention very well when I linked that particular recipe up and now it won’t let me delete it. Please don’t hate me.

    Sincerely,
    Your dufus fan

  6. Always love the round up of things here at your party. Definitely heading over to check out that office.

    PS Next time I am at my mom’s, I am going to find the meat grinder and steal that idea. She will never know it is missing…..

  7. Thanks for hosting this awesome party! I know I’m late, but I finally got my post up tonight. Recycled skid and wood from an old deck (which I’ve used a lot of already and have tons more to play with!)
    Can’t wait to check out some of the other shares!
    Debbie 🙂

  8. Great idea’s wish I could find cool stuff like this. Need a place to seek and find. Any idea’s?

    • Hi Patti, I suggest to google antique / salvage yard / thrift stores in your given area. Or just hit garage sales / auctions. It’s really all you can do. Good luck on your hunt!
