With the sunny spring and summer weather upon is, it’s time to dream about what to plant in our gardens!
So why not prepare early and look for some fabulous upcycled salvage to create garden planters?
No need to just grab clay pots or standard planters! Upcycled garden planters offer unique ways to grow flowers and plants, indoors and outdoors!
How to prepare an upcycled garden planter
.
Most anything goes as well! Simply collect unique containers that can hold soil, add a few drain holes and plant away!
- Collect interesting contailers of all shapes and sizes.
- Create drain holes if possible.
- Add some rocks on top of the holes to help with drainage.
- Fill with your favorite pot planting soil.
- Plant flowers or plants as desired.

Create a charming kettle rock garden by grouping together like-minded kettles. They are divine filled with succulents or small flowers! But don’t forget the rocks!
Old kettle herb garden – Funky Junk Interiors
This collection of quirky old kettles that have seen better days are prettied right up again sprouting fragrant herbs. I really enjoyed moving this little group around to different locations just for fun.

Vintage crock look flower pots
Change the look of a simple flowerpot into one that resembles a vintage crock! This easy tutorial shares how to also completely cover up an old pot to give it a fresh texture and colour.

French Country Cottage – Old bicycle flower planter
Who doesn’t love the framework from an old bike? Well, this one just got better with toppled over lilacs. Gorgeous! I love these kinds of ‘planters’ because it’s an easy move when you need to mow the lawn. Easy is good.
Chipping with Charm – tool box flower planters
Laurel stacks some tool boxes filled with annuals to brighten up a little spot in the yard. I think this idea is darling.
Snowflakes and Dragonflies – chicken feed flower planter
A sweet old rusty chicken feeder has never looked so good, filled to the brim with violas. So pretty!
