Why Old Sign Stencils?

I am a DIY tutorial blogger by trade and antiques lover. When I started creating DIY signs, readers asked where they could purchase the signs or designs. The creation of stencils filled that request, encouraging others to get creative at the same time.

While we sell online, the requests are now, “Where can we find them local to us?” That’s where you come in!

Stencils encourage others to pick up a paint brush and make something. And makers already know how valuable that move is. It’s all about making your home yours with your own two hands. Nothing beats a hand made custom project. Nothing.

Designed by a 20 year graphic design / sign shop veteran

There’s a lot to making a great looking sign design. Our designs have visual timeless PUNCH just like a real market sign and are tweaked to perfection.

And original. We frequently tweak fonts and design every single graphic from scratch so all the designs are unique.

Some Mix & Match

Some designs are built to mix & match with each other, so you can create endless variations! Each listing explains which other design is a match for easy reference.

Christmas Blend Hot Cocoa & Homestead Blend Coffee
Bakery & Lunch
Buffalo Check, Fringe & Plaid Shirt (patterns you can layer)

Made from high quality 10 mil mylar

I honestly have never felt such a quality heavy weight stencil material in my hands. They wear tough as nails and are built for repetitive use and cleaning for many years to come, making them a sound investment.

Come with unique registration marks making positioning a breeze

Being a sign maker by trade, I use to place registration marks on decals before installation. That premise is carried through to these stencils to alleviate the need of endless measuring in order to position.

Supported by ongoing new blog tutorials and social media

I create blog tutorials for a living, so you’ll see ongoing unique tutorials made with any of the stencils at any given time. We offer up plenty of tutorials and photos you are welcome to use and share to fuel stencil interest to your own stores.

Ongoing new sign designs and unique patterns

Whether I’m travelling or shopping in a local area, I’m always taking pictures with my eyes on old crates, market signs, and what’s new and hot in today’s market. I also love hearing requests on what you’d like to see become available.

We also broke out into timeless patterns… because I mean, Houndstooth, Grain Sack Stripes, Plaid and Buffalo Check?! NEED. With more to come.

The sign theme –

Indoor farmhouse signs these days are HOT! While the theme may appear trendy, vintage signs have been around for, well… forever! Check out any antique market. It’s easy creating a reproduction vintage sign and it’s also easy to make them look old… it’s all dependent on the materials you use. Old wood will give you old results. These stencils help produce professional results without years of signmaker practice.

We’ve also broken out into iconic patterns that won’t date, such as plaid, buffalo check and grain sack stripes. With more to come!

Resell them –

There will always be purchasers, but there will also always be makers. Reselling stencils hands the creativity back to the user. What will they ultimately do with their purchase? You could become their go-to for their stencil supply needs, whether they make for themselves or resell their handmade creations.

Host workshops –

Hosting workshops is one of the most encouraging ways to guide someone to get their feet wet while meeting success. Being taught something lasts forever and creates a repeat client. It’s one thing to buy home decor, however makers already know, it’s an entirely different thing to customize it and make it yourself.

Creating products to sell –

Even if someone is a DIYer, there’s always a purchaser for something you have uniquely made yourself. Every time I make something, someone else wants it. No one does you better than you. Make your projects with your own unique twist and you will create a desire to own.

Here are my projects. Copy away!

Every summer I get invited to host booths at vintage shows. Shows are big and prominent and gets your product out in front of others in a like-minded setting.

I was most successful at one show by hosting a talk (about making old signs) at a designated time right at my own booth, and having an ongoing sample table, teaching others how to successfully stencil all day long. Those that got the paint brush wet purchased a stencil. Make it easy for them to try, lead them to success and you will likely have a sale.

Here’s a peek at one antique market I hosted at The Olde Farmhouse in Maple Ridge, BC Canada. It was a great day!
