Hello and a happy weekend to you!

I’m editing this post to add:

I’ve been doing a little soul searching and am really feeling the pull to move towards an upcycled linkup only. It truly is what speaks to my own heart and what Funky Junk is really all about. There are so many other link parties that accept all kinds of linkups, so I know you would not go without! So, just putting this out there so you’re aware of some pending changes that may occur. Feel free to express your thoughts in comments about this! I’m curious to hear how you feel.

So let’s get to it!  As so many of us are busy organizing, I thought running the rustic shelving topic would chime in well with your efforts! Here are a few of my favs:

Farmhouse pantry pipe shelving by DIY Showoff
DIY Industrial Pipe Shelving Unit – DIY ShowOff

When Roeshel renovated her kitchen, they removed a pantry closet, losing valuable space. So instead, they revamped an unused hallway (with 6 doors no less!) into one goldmine of a pantry! This pipe style is absolutely stunning and perfect for an open concept!

Crutches shelving by Mamie Jane's
Crutch Shelving – Mamie Jane’s

When Jane landed a pair of crutches for a whoppin’ $2, she hinged them together and created this one of a kind shelving unit. I LOVE the slim lines of this one! Truly stunning!

No need to bring out the tools for this easy fix. Throw a few reclaimed boards onto a ladder and filler up!

The day I landed a bunch of small cabinets was a good day indeed. What a perfect place to store the camera gear!

Not exactly conservative, a bunch of crates were stacked on a wall to create a kitchen home office. Best thing we ever did!

~ Party Junk blah blah linkup rules ~

1. DIY home projects only pretty please. Items for sale must be in tutorial form on your blog.

2. Linkups must be your own work, not another’s.

3. Only projects new to Party Junk please. The themed linkup is an exception.

4. By linking up here, you’re cool with me featuring you on my blog,  Pinterest, Twitter, FJI Facebook and I Love That Junk with no additional permission required.

  1. Hi Donna,
Thank you for featuring my crutches shelf! I’m looking forward to looking through all of the links.
Good luck with your bathroom redo – I’m looking forward to following the progress.
    Jane

    • I loved Jane’s crutches shelving. I ran across a pair at my local Goodwill, but when I attempted to recreate the shelves, mine turned into a floor lamp. Hmmmm? I guess you just have to let an object be what it wants to be. Love all the inspiration

  2. It makes sense what you are saying about upcycling if that is where your passion is! I LOVE this party! I am so grateful for big bloggers who have link parties. So maybe everyone wouldn’t be able to link up as frequently but you got to stay true to you. :)

Hope your year is off to a great start.

    Amanda

  3. Hi Donna: Thank you for hosting the party, and what cool shelves you featured today. An upcycled link party is fine with me. It might be a good idea, if you do decide to do this, to be really clear about what you consider an “upcycle”.

  4. My favorite is your crazy crates on a wall and the wheel just makes the whole thing!!! I think you should do the up-cycled junk and do your theme each week and have a link-up for the theme and a link-up for up-cycled projects that don’t fit the weeks theme. Have a great weekend Donna!

  5. I think you have to follow your heart on these parties. It’s your blog and your passion. Only suggestion I have is announcing the theme for next week this week so we have time to get creative. It would be awesome to see what everyone creates. Thanks for hosting.

    • Hey Shannon! Good thought. My only issue is I usually get to thinking about these posts the day before they go up. LOL I’ll give the heads up notice more thought. I generally need to feel inspired first so this is tough.

The good thing is it always pays to revisit the party and link up the theme after the fact too. I rerun the scripts so that way your project will still be shown the next time I run it. They are easy to find by topic in the navigation bar. I don’t mind older posts being linked up in the themed area at all so it’s all good!

  6. I was floored with the crutches to shelving picture!!! I am in love with Roeshel’s DIY shelving and have been looking at that all week. I have never seen the crutches, that was genius.
My two cents on changes here, I would love the party to be upcycled only. I love the weekly theme and I love seeing other blogger’s upcycles. There are so many fabulous link parties for other projects, it would be nice to see more junk saves only here.

  7. Thanks for hosting Donna! I agree with what some others have said- stick with an upcycled theme if it is what you feel drawn to do! If you do change it, it would be great to clearly outline what exactly qualifies so that we don’t unwittingly link up the wrong types of posts:) have a great weekend!

  8. Thanks for hosting, Donna. I actually bought some crutches to make one of those shelves, but have never gotten around to it. Looove Roeshel’s pantry shelves (and a little envious of the space). Have a great weekend! :)

  9. I searched for a link to your buttons under your header and could not find them. I use my IPad to link up to parties as well as posting my blog. Sorry, but I finally just copied a link to your blog. Hope that is OK~ thanks for hosting the party!

    • Hi Lee! The button you can use is in this very post. (Party Junk) Just upload like a picture, then apply a link to your picture from the url of this post. (directions are in the post)

I did away with the html buttons awhile back. But thanks for checking! And a text link is perfectly fine! Thanks for linking back! :)

  10. Hi, still loving the crates in the bathroom for tp. very cool! I don’t understand the link talk, so I hope you are not going anywhere.♥

  11. I agree with many of the others. You must follow your heart and do what is best for you. Thank you for hosting and I will keep linking up which ever way you decide to go. I may need a definition of what you consider an upcycle project though.

  12. Hi Donna and thanks for linking up two of my projects. I think if you want to change the party to just upcycling you should. As at least one other person suggested, please give guidelines because sometimes it’s hard to figure out what is accepted at parties and what isn’t (and I wouldn’t want to crash a party!)

  13. What a great collection of shelves, Donna! And I am so excited to see mine featured! Woo hop! Thank you so much! And I do a lot of upcycling/recycling so I’m looking forward to linking up and checking out the inspiring links! :)
