Welcome to DIY Salvaged Junk Projects 387

Every Friday, 7 PM through Wednesday 11 PM Pacific

Welcome friends!

During these lazy hot days of summer, I’m finding I’m having to play tricks on myself. If I tell myself I’m going to work hard, I don’t want to do anything. If I tell myself I can have a vacation day, I’m DIYing in no time. Why oh WHY can I not plan like most people?!

Well, I’m happy to say the DIY bug did indeed hit during one of my (ahem) ‘vacation days’ and I whipped up two cozy cabin styled sitting areas I am completely smitten with! That offer me more vacation days… not sure if that is good or not yet!

I also shared a little about my most recent getaway. If you’d like to tour a little of BC’s west coast, take in this incredible bridge turned walking path. It’s a stunner! And also shows the junk haunt I found when I luckily got lost… best mistake ever!

I’ve also been biking every night. Every night. Even if I don’t want to. My brain is officially wired to look up and note it’s 6:30, then out the door I go! And I think I know one reason why…

In one of my most recent course sessions, it’s said that we tend to do or repeat things that take us under 20 seconds to implement. ie: if it takes you an hour to gather up your tools, you are not likely to work on something. If it takes you 20 seconds to load your bike baskets, you’re out the door.

So there you go! Guess I’d better gather up those tools prior, huh?

Now that you’re all updated on what I’ve been (and NOT been) doing… here’s what some of you did from last weekend’s junk party…

Why you need to be on the lookout for cheap wire baskets… because this simple idea is gorgeous AND productive!

Just when you thought Buffalo Check was all about black and red, neutrals take over! If this doesn’t scream summer, I don’t know what does. Stunning!

Created with a stencil, with all details inside the post.

What in the WHAT?! Why it pays to pick up rusty junk and think like Joan. Gorgeous outcome!

If you are smitten with industrial decorating, this room is a must tour! Don’t you adore the wall treatment? That would make a fab magnetic board… thinking… thinking…

I don’t care what I’d use this for… I just know I want this in my house! The yardstick details have me on a jittery caffeine like high here…

Money pouches are super useful, but… money pouch looking. Sarah changes all that with this super clever repurpose from an old purse!

Unbelievably CHARMING!

My son just pointed out that he loves wind chimes. I think it’s time to collect a few things that clang together in a pretty way.

Jaw drop. I don’t even know what to say. Wait… how about, “Why didn’t the kitchen designers just make junk flowers from strainers instead? Sure beats eating steamed veggies!”

Denim upholstered chair, by Vicky Meyers Creations, featured on Funky Junk Interiors

For the longest time, I collected old jeans because I’ve always wanted to do THIS to two wing chairs. The chairs are long gone… but it’s so satisfying to know, it can be done!

Classic perfection, in every possible non-fussy way!

New cabin styled patio updates, by Funky Junk Interiors
Two new cabin styled patio updates, by Funky Junk Interiors

Inspired by my most recent cabin getaway, I am now the proud owner of not only one, but TWO new sitting areas! This post showcases a wood wall, old hung windows, and how to turn a plain chair pad into a Buffalo Checked wonder with a stencil.

What utility trailer?!

Dear Penny, if my yard was capable of allowing my little travel trailer inside it, I’d flip it into a junk styled she-shed. Because you’ve just proven it can work.
