  1. This magazine will be even better with you in it! I want to see projects and before/afters. Whether they are outdoor projects or for interior design, I love seeing how people improve their lives and surroundings for themselves. It would also be nice to see a highlight of flea markets or stores that people frequent to get their FOLK look and create their FOLK lifestyles. Much of the shopping can prove unconventional and that is the fun of it! I.e., home depot stair rails for candlesticks, hemp rope to make a bowl…

  2. I am excited about this new Mag and the fact that you will be writing for it. count me in! I would love to see any thing that you photograph and write about. Especially love what you do with pallets, I also love photos of barns and the vintage signs. jenmad9696@hotmail.com

  3. I just included you and Folk in a status on facebook. I sure hope I win this subscription. Maybe an idea for the magazine would be to have photo contests- for readers to submit photos of local places and items that go along with the “Folk” themes. jenmad9696@hotmail.com

  4. I hope to read about decor and design ideas and ways to repurpose and use what I already have. Creative and clever ways to design and create. And I hope to see some cool furniture pieces as well!!
    Stacey of Embracing Change
(the photographs look awesome as well!)

  5. I don’t even care about winning something free. i want a subscription. However, when I click on the icons nothing comes up to enable me to buy a subscription. I want to do it through your blog, but how do i do that??

  6. Congrats on your new career in writing! I have been reading your blog and became a follower.
I am crazy about junkin, repurposing, flea markets and the list goes on. This magazine looks like it is going to be a big hit. Please enter me in this fabulous give away. I do not have a blog as of yet so my email address is:
    cdfred@ncool.net.
    Thanks!
    Cheryl

  7. Wow! I would love this new magazine!! Always looking for more inspirational reading like this!!! I would love the Home Tours and Primitive Life esp., but I know the whole magazine would be great reading! Congrads to you! Thanks, Linda

  8. In FOLK, I hope to read tutorials that are user friendly and don’t require materials that are too expensive or are hard to find. I hope to see beautiful photographs that inspire and reflect the spirit of DIY, Americana, and entrepreneurialism. Also, I love to read stories about how small business owners got their starts!

    llcamp4@gmail.com

  9. Congrats! I would love to see some simple tutorials….like turning cool objets into lights using electrical kits, and how to upholster a chair!

    Cheers, Amy

  10. I had not heard of this magazine until you mentioned it and then I was looking forward to it. Now that you’re going to be a contributor (sooo awesome!!!!), I’m really looking forward to it. I hope to see lots of cool decorating ideas on a budget with vintage/antique stuff. I love the name of that magazine already. Sounds ilke it’s going to be great!

  11. Congratulations!! Great news! I love the idea of this new magazine, FOLK! and how awesome that you will be a contributing writer! I love seeing how people take everyday stuff (junk to some!), and turn it into amazing re-purposed incredible one of a kind masterpieces!

  12. Whoa!! Things are moving fast for you!! Way back when, did you even dream this would happen for you? You were probably more concerned about taking care of your son, and dealing with “what is” than dreaming. Congratulations!! Heading over to Folk.

  13. I just “liked” FOLK! on facebook! I was thinking I would also love to see pictures of items that people have around their house and can’t part with but don’t know what to do with them. And then have readers, or the editors of FOLK! give suggestions or better yet, show some before and after ideas. (Can you guess that I have a lot of things I would love to repurpose, but have no idea what to repurpose them for!)

  14. I love magazines, Print will never die for me! I hope to see some real American style int he pages. Who cares about French this and that? Lets show the world America has great style! Farmhouse rules:>)

  15. I tweeted the giveaway too. By the way, in all my excitement I forgot to congratulate you on being a contributor! I follow your blog and love the creative things you do, so I think your recognition is well deserved:>) I’m trying to order the premier issue but the link just sends me to paypal with no bill. Hope I can sign up for an issue soon!

  16. awesome! This mag looks fabulous & will continue to feed my addiction to junk and decor image consumption! keeping my fingers crossed that I win the subscription. So excited to hear of your new role with them – Go Girl!

  17. Oh, how exciting for you!! Congratulations! I have to agree, when I found you on FB I have to say I like your junk too LOL

I am always looking for repurposing ideas and tutorials so I would love to see that in the magazine!

  19. Congratulations. I would like to see things made in the USA/Canada. Soon, you are going to have much more than you can handle. To be so young! Have a great day.

  20. I liked them on Facebook. I would love to see more about flea markets and anything to do painting and rehabbing old furniture.

    Thanks !
    Kathleen Welch

  21. This looks like a great magazine right up my vintage alley ๐Ÿ™‚ I hope they have regular articles on different crafts, artists & crafters. Maybe some diy & how to’s. I’d like to see that. I love creating vintage like jewelry & paper crafts. So that would be nice to see too. Thanks for this, I’m really looking forward to this new magazine!

    Meg K.
    mme622@yahoo.com

  22. Hmm, my comment isn’t showing up–I had said that I’d love this magazine for the photography and would like to see projects that are line with my simple, homey design aesthetic–lasmith76 AT hotmail . com

  23. I would love to see a lot of before and after articles because they inspire vision. I would also like to see some creative ideas about how to cover the appliances in my kitchen. I know you can order cabinet doors to cover dishwashers, but I think it would be cool to cover the fridge too!

  24. We are just getting ready to break ground on our new house and we’re using some reclaimed items (ie: stealing my FIL’s barnboard off his barn) (We do plan to replace it with tin! hehe) but I’d love to read about some more ideas to incorporate reclaimed materials either in a new build, or decorating.

  25. Oh how exciting!!! Another new magazine full of eye candy just my style ๐Ÿ™‚ Would love to see more of your great landscaping and pallet board ideas!!

  26. I would love to see lots of ideas for thrifty decorating or remodeling. All of the $30,000.+ renovations are fun to look at but not feasible for me right now. I love to see creativity and what a person can do with a tiny budget. I don’t think I’m alone in that! Of course, I’ll love all of the junky goodness you’ll be adding to the magazine! Can’t wait.

  27. Congratulations, and how exciting for you. I would like to read about all the annual flea markets and great thrifting spots. I also love trash to treasure ideas. Take Care, Carrie {the vintage wren}

  28. I’d love to see some DIY tutorials and I’d also love a section on finding original fixtures/pieces at a fraction of the cost by either buying or building them yourself.

  29. Well I am the trigger happy girl today! I got on Facebook (I’m friends with you there) and saw just one post with the picture of this new awesome magazine – went right over to their page, liked their page immediately, then went right to their website and ordered!!! Thanks for the nod their way!!! I can’t wait for others to get the chance to win this magazine!! I know it will rock – ‘specially with you in it!! Love all of your ideas and blog – you are amaZing!!!! My blogger won’t let me comment!! I’m mitchies mom and rl-wilt@wiu.edu

  30. I would love to see inexpensive, yet creative projects, tips on hunting down pieces/supplies/etc, and lastly resources for states/areas outside of major metropolitan areas.

  31. Congrats Donna, this is so exciting. I can’t wait to see the first issue. I clicked to see
how much the premier issue was but it just brings me to paypal. Help….am I doing something wrong? Please count me in the contest.

    reeree1949@bellsouth.net

  32. Looking forward to reading “Folk”. Let see…..I like reading about party ideas that come from “regular people”. Who doesn’t like to throw a party for friends and family?

  33. I’m so excited for you! A chance to be a contributor to this new magazine! You’ll add a lot of interest there.
I’d love to win a subscription!
    Maggie

  34. Wowza! Good for you, girl. This looks right up your alley. Well, and mine to be truthful ๐Ÿ™‚ What I’d like to see in FOLK is how to apply a folk/ junk/ upcycled style into new-build homes. So often we end up with pictures of gorgeous old farmhouses or victorian beauties and have no idea how to translate our style into the actual suburban lovelies we are trying to decorate.

  35. I liked Folk on FB.
Tried to order the premier issue but when I clicked on your button all it did was take me to my Paypal account. There was nothing about the magazine. ??

  36. Congratulations on your new adventure! What I’d like to see is how to get started in thrifting and yard saling. I can’t seem to figure out what’s a good buy and what is just useless junk.

  37. Cool idea. As a new mom, I’d love to see kid-friendly or for-kids craft ideas (how annoying ambiguous is that?!?). I also dig urban homesteading, art-making, and small town exploring. Looking forward to checking this out one way or another (of course I’d love to win, though!)

  38. I would like to see not only before and after photos how to turn other people’s junk into treasures, but a how-to or DIY for the projects, very blog like! ๐Ÿ™‚ Thanks Funky Junk for the opportunity! orr_kim@hotmail.com

  39. CONGRATULATIONS Donna, I am so happy for you and excited to see you in print.

It would be neat to see some one-weekend transformations. I’m always game for ideas that do not require a contractor, a month of time, and an endless bank account.

  40. This is just one exciting post you put on here, Donna!! I will be getting a subscription regardless of the contest, but how sweet would that be to get a TWO YEAR subscription out it???

And you just don’t get any better than having YOU contributing all your awesome ideas & photography to it as well! Congrats girlie!! You SO deserve it!

  41. I “LIKED” them on Facebook! YAY!!

I would love to see a state by state & by date listing of flea markets around the country. Inventive ideas of things/crafts to make with vintage country in mind would be over the top for me!

  42. Hello everyone!

Sorry for the glitch in the sidebar buttons. They appear to work in the body of the post but not the sidebar… who knew…

You can now order through this post. (I hope!) Thanks so much for your support!!! ๐Ÿ™‚

    Donna

  43. Congratulations! I liked Folk on fb, loved watching the count! Would love to win a subscription. I’d like to see how a variety of Folk, everyday folk,
integrate their primitives, junk, shabby stuff into their home decor. I think your commenters also have great ideas for Folk! This will be such a win-win situation/magazine!

  44. The magazine looks like it’ll be perfectly up my alley! I love my antiques and flea-market finds and furnishings! I too would love to have listings of all the great flea-market fairs across the east coast! Thanks for the chance to win a sub!

  45. Congratulations to you for being a contributor to this brand new mag. Now that’s exciting! I ordered the premier issue through your link, liked them on FB and commented, and I will share this with my Twitter/FB friends as well.

I hope this new production will inspire me with new ideas about decorating and maybe some funky fun storage ideas. The sneak peek looks very promising and I can’t wait to see the real thing!

  46. Congrats Donna! Great things keep coming your way. I just had a chance to read your post. I’m on my way to buy, like, etc. I would love to see tutorials, unconventional decorating ideas, and lots of pics.

  48. You and Folk seem like a perfect match! If they have things like what is on your blog they will be great – the repurposing and creative ideas. I also love textiles – using them and creating furnishings with them – so I hope they will include a lot of fabric ideas.

  49. Excellent news ~ In Folk I would love to continue to see amazing things made from others throwaways. Thank you for this opportunity to win ๐Ÿ˜€ MaryAnn Joye

  53. How cool! I do love a good magazine. ๐Ÿ™‚ I would love to read about quick and easy ways to make a house a home — handmade, sewing, DIY, fun things to buy, tips, really good recipes, decor, how to arrange flowers, etc. It would also be fantastic to read up on different places (online and physical) to find awesome vintage stuff.

  54. Looks like this magazine may be just what I am looking for. I really used to like Romantic Homes but they got away from my taste. I love to see how others decorate with junk, I have lots of it. Also some how tos would be great. I am looking forward to seeing what you contribute since I love your blog.

    crazymom6@juno.com

  55. Hi Donna,
I actually think of you almost on a day to day basis as you have been awesomelly inspiring using pallet wood. I have a couple of places near by my home that have different types of pallette’s and wood and my mind is always going but not the way your mind works. I would love to see a continuation of how things are made out of items such as pallette’s etc. and I hope I win:)

  56. I hope to see lots of repurposed ideas. I love lots of fresh new ideas to try out for myself!

    gretchen.kingsleyathotmail.com

  57. Congratulations Donna! I’m so glad that they have chosen someone with your passion and eye for design! I’d like to see the magazine do features on repurposing items, giving them new life.. like what you show in many of your posts.. Again, congrats and good luck!

    tosha@GRFXcreative.com

  58. I have a small (ok, huge) magazine addiction and this one seems right up my alley. I would love to see non-major city flea markets and antique shows featured. I live in Ohio and most of the places featured in other magazines are no where near me.
    jamier76@gmail.com

  59. I’m all into repurposing- old furniture, containers, silverware- how can it be tweaked and be useful again. Show me paint techniques, sewing tutorials to use old linens, suggestions for found treasures- like old pails or kettles or enamelware.

  60. posted this giveaway on facebook.

  71. I would love to win a subscription to this magazine so I could get some great ideas on how to decorate my house. Thanks FJI!

  72. Donna, I would love to win the subscription to Folk. I think it would be great if they had a series and each month highlighted great places for junk, craft and flea market shopping in different parts of the country, especially big vacation destinations like Florida so that even if we don’t live there, we might visit and then know where the good shopping is. I live in Ontario and have learned about lots of good stores in the U.S. from reading blogs but it would be neat if a magazine ran a series on shopping in popular vacation destinations.
    slbolderson@hotmail.com

  73. This looks like it will be a great magazine. I would love to see how to projects for large decor items for hanging like repurposed canvas and wall decor or how to remake some of the expensive home decor items for under 20 dollars. I hope to win a subscription! Thanks!

  75. How absolutely wonderful ~ congratulations…you are so awesomely talented!!! I look forward to reading/seeing the magazine. I think I will ask for a gift subscription for my September Birthday…if my husband or kids get it for me I will be sure they order it from your site….commissions rock!

  76. Ordered the Premier Edition, can’t wait, sounds like it’s up my alley. I’d love to see some before and after make overs of yard sale and thrift store finds, large or small.
