You guys rock! Thanks for all your suggestions on where you’d go with the new kitchen office layout. I think this is the PERFECT opportunity to take you on my walk through all the steps I encounter when making something new work. So along with your tips,ย here we go!
Part 1 – The accident HERE.
Recap:
Love.
Don’t love.
What’s wrong?
Too woodsy. Table too small. Too matchy for my taste. This bores me.
1. Consider surrounding areas first
The whitish touchesย are truly the best accents ever in this very woodsy environment.ย Without the whites, there wouldn’t be enough contrast, andย a cave like appearance would take over.ย ย (also not loving the red in the room… slipcover, here we come!) Now knowing I wanted to incorporate more whites in the office area anyway, here are the options.
Option #1 below.
Work with the farm table by:
– removing some boxyness
– incorporate more rounds
– remove armoire doors to slim up the profile of the entire area
– incorporate more whites
– flipping colours/tones to make it work
Option #2 below:
Work with the round table by:
– enlarging the top.
– adding more whites to the mix (table? tabletop? armoire? back of armoire? contents in armoire?)
– leave chairs black as they tie in with the kitchen chairs
Option #3
Fix the darn chair and leave things as is!
Would seem obvious wouldn’t it? But I wanted some changes to the area anyway, so before I give up, I’m choosing my other options first. It’s my chance to have a new free office! Weeee!
Your turn!
Now that you’ve seen the surrounding areas and considered all the options, whichย option would you go for if this were your home? Additional comments welcome!
