Fresh Coffee station appliance garage

If you know me at all, you’ll already know I’m a bit (lot) of a coffeeaholic. There was a spell when I attempted to not drink any, but after a month, I wanted my life back. Oh the drama! So here I am, back to being fully caffeinated and content!

Before you think that this project looks a little familiar, you would be right!

But there is something different…

wood hot cocoa sign appliance garage

During Christmas, a rustic Hot Cocoa sign was flipped into a Hot Cocoa station appliance garage. The idea proved it’s worth. I adore having all my beloved coffee gear hidden inside and just everything looking clean and pretty on the outside!

But it was time for an update. Desiring a theme that would be perfect for every day, I decided to turn it into a Fresh Coffee appliance garage instead! Which took only a few minutes to do.

Here’s how I did it:

Supplies I used:

.

Fresh Coffee stencil

Stencil brush (I love dome-tipped like THESE)

Fusion Mineral Paint’s Coal Black

Reclaimed wood planks

Building the appliance garage

.

1. Create the entire appliance garage with a front that fits first.

Since I already had a front that fit, I decided to sand off the Hot Cocoa sign instead of building a new sign front.

Sanding the surface did remove some of the rustic texture of the wood, however it still is left with plenty of charm which I’m happy with.

Now don’t even blink, because this project is gonna be whipped up fast!

Adding the Fresh Coffee sign

.

2. Stencil Fresh Coffee in Coal Black in the middle of the planks.

Stencil tips:

  1. Load stencil brush, then off-load most of the paint onto a rag.
  2. Swirl or tap brush to stencil the image for the effect desired.
  3. Once dry, further distress by sanding if desired. I left mine as-is.

Boom! Pretty, right?!

I love the size of this Fresh Coffee stencil. The design measures within 10″ x 10″ so it’s compact enough to fit most anywhere!

I also chose to stencil in plain black so the project mimicked a coffee shipping crate of sorts. I like the simple take!

However let’s add some enhancements to make this Fresh Coffee appliance garage a little more original…

Installing hardware

.

3. Attach the sign front once complete.

I used brackets and screws which you can find in the appliance garage tutorial HERE.

4. Add some hardware to enhance the crate-look.

The cup and eye hook were both already on the appliance garage, but I felt a little more would be cool!

So I borrowed a few corner brackets from this Herbs crate (LOL) and found the perfect handle to get the look desired.

And here is the epic finished result! I love the added black metal handle as I was fiddling with opening and closing the appliance garage without it. This is even better!

This would also make an amazing rustic bread box as well! Other stencil designs that would fit perfectly and work amazing with a food theme are Flour, Sugar and Grain.

Two #10 nails were also hammered into one side so they can hang coffee mugs.

Isn’t it just the cutest?!

Inside the appliance garage stores all my fav coffee gear perfectly. I’m super into a french press these days so perhaps I’ll share why I moved on from a coffee pot in another blog post soon!

HERE’S the french press I personally use.

But until then…

  1. Glad you came to your senses! Your coffee senses that is. I’m too old to give up something like that, but I could use a cute coffee station to maintain caffination.

  2. You’re a natural born teacher Donna. Love looking at the photos and reading directions. I learn best by looking and looking again. When I came upon this post my first reaction was hmm, this looks familiar. But, I knew there was more to this than what I thought. It’s great to be able to morph one thing into another and this coffee station garage shows it. Love it. Thanks for creating it and sharing!
