Since Google + has come into the picture, something has drastically changed across the board. If you have upgraded to the Google + dashboard, and blog or comment through blogger, you probably are a brand spankin’ new noreply blogger.
What’s noreply?
Noreply means your profile/email aren’t properly linked together. So when you comment on my blog, I can’t respond back to you via email.
So this is what I see instead of a return email address from you. Bummer.
Why did this happen?
This is a glitch between Google + and blogger. When you switched to Google, you lost the option to fix blogger account settings. So now what you must do is revert back to your old blogger dashboard to fix, then you can go back to Google again.Warning! The issue remains a glitch so many have to repeat this fix more than once. Frequently even. Â Painful, but it’s the only way if you are choosing to stay with a Google profile while this glitch exists.
How do I know if I’m a noreply?
You don’t. That’s the part that’s frustrating. Unless someone gets a noreply email from you, travels to your blog, finds your email and notifies you, you won’t ever know except for your inbox getting a little quieter.
I get HUNDREDS of noreply comments through my inbox and it’s impossible for me to email each of you, so I hope you will check to see if this applies to you.
Check anywayEven if you haven’t made the switch to the new Google profile, I suggest you check your blogger settings anyway. And for those that don’t blog but do comment, if you don’t have an email activated through blogger, you come up as a noreply. I implore anyone that comments on blogger blogs to attach your blogger profile to an email so we can reply back to you. Truly I do. You just MUST have an email activated for this to work. If you’re staying incognito for security purposes, fire up a hotmail or gmail. Anything.
How do I fix it?
Fixing is easy and I truly hope each and every one of you does so. I checked my own as well. Please oh please click below and let The Tattoeod Teacher help you through it. It’s an excellent post I couldn’t improve on.
Enjoy blog tips? Here’s my own collection of them.
Thanks Donna–you always help me with those blog housekeeping issues that I wish I didn’t have to do.
I have a sort of related question. I don’t know if you’ll know how to help or not, but you seem to be Blogger expertified.. We are having to go into settings (on the right) for each new post to allow comments. It’s maddening.
Is this just the way things are now?
I have checked and re-checked our general settings, we allow anyone to comment. But if I just fire off a quick post from my phone, I have to go back later to allow comments.
Very frustrated. Would love any help you could offer. I’ve asked on the Blogger message board, but gotten no reply.
HiDonna,
I think this is for the Google+ users and not necessarily those of us that are using something else. I could be wrong. But, mine is okay.
Correct, it’s for G+ users that have assigned their profile to Google. I’m still using blogger so that’s why I’m ok.
Is there a fix for those of us on WordPress I wonder? I think I am a noreply blogger on all blogger blogs.
Yes you indeed are Alderberry Hill. You need to assign an email to your blogger account for when you comment on blogger blogs I believe.
I know I’m not a no-reply blogger since my comments always get replies via my e-mail and my Google name appears at the bottom of the comment box for me to chose to “comment as:” Problem is, when my blog posts come up in my Reader list of blogs I follow, it says “by no-reply blogger.” YOUR posts come up the same way in my blog list, it says “by no-reply blogger” ! Did you know that? It’s been driving me crazy for quite some time now. Any ideas on how to fix?
Not sure if I fixed my no reply blogger. If it worked reply other wise I know it did not work. Thanks Donna!
Thanks Donna! Im probably one of those… Just figured some bloggy women are busy & so when i didnt get a response i figured my comment wasnt as important as others… Im hoping this has fixed itself – i gave some love to the tattooed teacher as well! Blessings.
Hey, i dont see my photo next to my name – better go check to see if i did it right…
I use Blogger and haven’t upgraded to Google+, should I? Is it better?
My profile shows I have my email showing but I don’t see a lot of replies from all the blogs I comment on. But like Elaine said, I figure it’s because everyone is busy, and it really isn’t necessary to reply to all the emails flooding their inboxes!
Thanks for the info!
Debbie 🙂
I agree with Charm Bracelet above. You (Funky Junk) come up as No Reply in the Blogger reading list.
Can you check ours PLEASE!!! Testing, testing, one two, two … haha
Jacque
thanks for helping out everyone with this problem!
Am I a “no-reply?” Hmmmm….. I haven’t looked at my blog in so long I can’t remember how to use it. PLUS…I don’t know how to use Google+ BUT BABY I CAN “PINTEREST!” LOL See you there, too!
Ok….tried it again….ready, set……..GO!
Ok, Donna, I have no idea what I am, since I’ve been on WP so long. I just don’t pay attention to this no-reply stuff, but here goes. What am I???
I thought I fixed the noreply a while ago, but now you made me wonder! Giving it a go. Thanks for doing this 🙂
I am on wordpress but still have to use google to comment on blogger blogs. Now sure if I am no-reply or not. Hopefully I am not set to no-reply! 🙂
