Welcome to Party Junk 259 – DIY deer and other taxidermy takes
Every Friday, 7 PM through Sunday 11 PM Pacific
Happy weekend, everyone!
With us getting ready to take off for Christmas, this place is no where NEAR a home tour. I may have to bypass it this year. But you can certainly catch up with all my Christmas projects this year HERE.
Due to the upcoming holiday season, there will be no Party Junk next weekend. Merry Christmas, and enjoy your family time instead! See you again the following weekend.
Speaking of Christmas projects, deers are taking over, have you heard? All taxidermy is really. So here are a few DIY takes that I fell hard for that can work well beyond the Christmas season as well.
Reclaimed wood and branch deer head / Funky Junk Interiors
What can I say. I had to jump in with both feet myself on the deer head craze! This very simple and fast reclaimed wood and branch rendition literally takes minutes to do. You can see it on my fireplace mantel HERE.
Driftwood deer head taxidermy / Craftberry Bush
Lucy was recently challenged to come up with a project utilizing twigs. I’d say she nailed this one, wouldn’t you?!
Deer head wall art / Shabby Love
Melissa was inspired by a washi tape version of this deer head. So she emulated the look on reclaimed wood. LOVE. THIS.
Tennis racket press deers / Shabby Love
Melissa was challenged to come up with a project from a thrift store find. I can see thrift stores having a hard time keeping tennis racket presses in stock after this! I LOVE the furry one…
Reclaimed wood and spindle deer / Finding Home Online
Laura was inspired by a spindle legged deer from a catalogue. So she went about making her own. This little deer is pure art! Loving all the layers.
Yardstick deer / Finding Home Online
Laura found a unique way to utilize some deer head cutouts. Such a great tutorial and beautiful outcome!
DIY deer head ornaments / My Altered State
Pauline is a magician with scrap wood. Do you follower her work? If not, don’t miss out. These sweet reindeer ornaments are no exception!
Rusty hinge deer / Chipping with Charm
Laurel asks, “Do you see it? Is it crazy?” Yes, I see it, and yes, you are crazy in the very best way! A true junker’s rendition of a deer head at best.
Horse head mount / Knick of Time
While this isn’t a deer head, it deserves special mention here, thus me changing the theme of the linkups to anything taxidermy! Angie improved a broken down rocking horse by mounting it to a wall. Genius, isn’t it?
Have you DIY’ed anything taxidermy like? Link it up in this weekend’s 2nd themed linkup!

Oh dear me … aren’t these deer just the most dear??????
Wow, Love all the reclaimed Deer, very clever Bloggers!
Merry Christmas
such great deer ideas! I’ll have to save this for next year since decorating is done for me this year – gotta have time to be festive! Merry Christmas to you Donna!
LOL – I had to laugh, because when I saw the theme of this party, my first thought was I don’t have anything to share for it, because I’m really not into animal head anything. I completely forgot about the rocking horse head you featured, and it’s hanging right on my kitchen wall! Thanks for the laugh and for remembering what I’d forgotten!
I love these rustic but festive deer. They are on my list for next Christmas!
Don’t worry about a tour. Have a wonderful, wonderful Christmas and a great vacation. Too bad you are not near me in Connecticut because I would keep the pretty kitties. I am babysitting my “grand” dog on Christmas Eve and I can’t wait. Have fun and stay safe!
What a great round up of deer projects from salvage! Thanks for hosting, Donna!
This is such a fun post! Thanks so much for including me in it, and for your kind words. 🙂
