Happy weekend!
Hope you enjoyed either your Canada Day or July 4th celebrations, depending where you’re from!
We are currently embarking on a heatwave on the west coast, so we are well prepared. I picked up our first blackout curtain panels from Costco this week so I can close off our front picture window when the evening sun tries to burn it’s way inside. Not this time, sunny fella!
There are some panels for my own bedroom as well, but I don’t like them there so my son will likely get them in his room. I just don’t like waking up in the dark, know what I mean? Are you the same or prefer your room really dark?
Other than my curtain panel excitement (I clearly need a vacay), I have written up a post along with video of my stay at a very special place last week which I will share early next week! And hope to be more productive with projects using a few new stencils to also follow…
Hope you’re all keeping cool! Here’s some fabulous repurposed projects from last week’s party to browse through while your own air conditioning does its thing…

Industrial photo frame from a post office box door
Post office box door photo frame by A Pretty Happy Home
I LOVE a true blue repurpose, and this industrial take on a picture frame from a post office box door fits right in! Which happens to be the perfect shape for kitty cat! Love how the boxed frame was built to use as a stand… which really opens up all kinds of doors if you think of similar things that could also work! Such a cool overall vibe!
Unique air plant hangers using head scratchers
Hanging air planters by A Crafty Mix
These whimsical hanging air planters all share a secret… they use something that will have your head scratching… and once you read this post, you’ll understand the pun! I love how this project allows you to hang air plants anyway you wish with a boho vibe! So cute! Love the idea of filling a bare wall with these…
Upcycled napkin holder bookends
Napkin holder bookends by Little Vintage Cottage
Next time you spy some wooden napkin holders, grab them! Because here’s how you can turn them into bookends to tuck away all your favorite reads or to simply display. This is a genius and easy idea and in my opinion, so much more productive!
Paper plate watermelon flower hanger
DIY paper plate watermelon flower hanger by Steph Creates Things
If you’d like a summery project that could pretty up smaller spaces suitable for hanging something, consider whipping up this adorable paper plate watermelon hanger! The plates provide the perfect template shape to get you started, and it’s easy from there! Love the burst of colour, and of course the customizations you can add to your own hanger!

Woohoo! Always honored and happy to be included with other great up cycled ideas!
Thanks for bringing it over to share with us Anissa! Your post box office frame has such a classic industrial look!
Hubs and I always have a tug of war over how dark the room is; I don’t like waking up to complete darkness either :).
Too funny! I figured out a way around it. I leave the panels with the windows exposed on both sides while covered in the middle. I can live with that!
