(continued)

I remember the day well. When renovations were done on my home, I desired this really expensive headboard from a high end furniture store. Every week I visited ‘my headboard’ when in town and I may or may not have been caught ON the bed, pretending to try it out the mattress. I just needed to be near it.

The headboard never came. Price wise, I just could not swing it. So instead, I found an old sign behind the local gas station and asked if I could have it.

The disease to repurpose caught. I couldn’t stop at just one unique solution…

old gate and door headboard

…. so I got even braver. The old gate and door came from a burn pile.

Changing my mind yet again…

horsegate headboard

…. the horsegate went up! It’s now been.. oh… a few months. I’m still good… for now. 🙂

I’ve also played in my son’s room. This simple wall treatment required little else than clouds painted on plywood and hanging star lights from Ikea… before we ripped it apart. Young boys grow into older boys so we’re busy working on something creative as I type. Coming soon!

It’s my belief that nearly anything that can be attached to a wall can indeed become a headboard. Have you been as brave as I? I can’t wait to see. 🙂

Please share your own unique headboards you have in a bedroom
in this weekend’s 3rd themed linkup!

  1. OMGOSH- I love ALL those headboards. Each one is special and unique in its own way. Thanks for highlighting some of these blogs so I can go visit them- xo Diana

  2. Love those unique headboards! Thanks for hosting Donna. I have been such a bad blogger this summer..not much time to join parties. Hope you are enjoying your summer as well.

  3. Hi Donna…so excited to join the party this week! I posted some solar party lights and buggy pedal plant hooks in home decor…and my “new” ladder bed canopy in the headboard section 🙂 It took me a long time to come up with something for behind my bed…your amazing ideas inspired me to “hold out” for something fun!! Thanks again for hosting 🙂 Laurel

  4. Donna, I love each headboard you featured. The old sign is especially amazing. Thanks for hosting and have a great weekend!

  5. Hi Donna; as always thank you for hosting my favourite party each week. Do not know where or how you find the time but your time is very much appreciated. Loved the headboards. Loved you outdoor writing hideaway and edition/photo information on your posts this week.

  6. It’s hot and this girl needs some cold drinks. Thank goodness for Sweet Iced Coffee (#116-recipes section ). This is a simple recipe, but one people may not think about using Stevia. Have a good morning and thanks for hosting the party again!

  7. Donna I used to have a very long narrow 10 pane window over my bed that I put pictures in. I got tired of it and bought a real headboard, I hate it. That was
a very bad decision. I love your sign headboard, very creative.

  8. The headboards are awesome. Thank you so much for hosting. I’ve been a follower for a long time, but this is my first link up. 🙂
    Have a great weekend.

  9. Hi Donna; great to see such a good group of posters. Always look forward to your party on Friday (even when I write my post on Sunday and then join in). I added Funky Time Yard Sales this week. Thanks for hosting.
