In my church, there’s a really lovely area downstairs called the Soul Cafe, with the neatest sage green walls. In between each window that lines the main wall is a nice sized section of wall, begging for some attention.

The idea of creating bulletin boards for each ministry was implemented. The idea started with a few boards like the one above. They’re really nice boards wearing rich deep tones.

But when the project was delegated to me for some input… well… you know what happened right? 🙂

I messed up this arrangement and it’s a very rough take, but you get the idea. Every task has been thought of and will be carried out in a whimsical kinda way. This one’s for the men.

An old rake will hold the title of this board and a clip board will be on hand for quick 1 page change outs of current events.

A yard stick will hold some photos from some of the events that can be easily swapped out for current ones. And that rusty cultivator blade is just because. 🙂

2 metal straight edges will create a frame around a bulletin board that will hold out a poster on what this ministry provides.

Yup! A tool themed men’s ministry bulletin board.

Other themes will be women’s, missions, children’s, teen’s, and I can’t remember the rest. All wall vignettes will provide all the duties you see in this one, but just themed to suit each ministry. What a fun challenge this will be!

I’m so proud of my church. They are very very brave. 🙂

  1. Oh, Donna, I just love it when you get all funky junk on a project like this! I am not naturally gifted at seeing how to “repurpose” things in original ways, so you are my go-to source of inspiration in that department. Thank you for YET AGAIN taking something very mundane and functional and making it creative and fun. Love that.

  2. I love the name “Soul Cafe” and these bulletin boards you are making are so creative and FUN! You amaze and inspire me!

  3. Donna,
I too have done this at church. One thing that made it all come together was to paint a color block behind each vignette. It made it pop and seemed to make it prominent while holding it together in an orderly fashion; so it did not look toobusy

  4. What? Brave to let you loose on their walls? Brave to set up themed walls and run the risk of the gals demanding tools too? Anyway, as always I think it is going to be fab. And I can’t get over the fact that you seem to find so many junk tools. I think our thrift stores just don’t except rusty ones. 🙁

  5. I agree with the rest if the responses Donna – you are lucky for the opportunity & they are lucky to have you in their ministry – the board will be awe-inspiring for the guys. Cant wait to see finished board.

  6. wow that is awesome! I love how your church really plays on people’s talents and interests, that always help to make a church community a safe, loving and happy place to be. thanks for sharing they are so cool!

  7. Donna I love the squares put together to make a frame. I love your decorating talents used in the church. They knew just who to ask for that didn’t they. Thanks for sharing your ideas.

  8. I love the look of that. My one concern is the children who can’t help touching things (I have one of those) messing with the sharper/rustier items.

It looks fantastic, though. I’m sure those bulletin boards will never have looked better. Also, you’ll have to do this job forever or else the next person is going to feel really inadequate! 🙂

    • Everything is up high out of reach of little ones so it’ll be as safe as can be. 🙂 Even so, I plan to use a matte spray seal for all the metal to give the rust a deeper cleaner look anyway. I’m going to remember where this is being displayed. 🙂

  9. I am so proud of your church too!!! That is going to look so very cool. No doubt you will have the coolest message center of any church around. Can’t wait to see the end result.

  10. This is such an eye-catching idea! I just worked my last day for the summer and brought home some old clipboards and a small bulletin board someone was throwing away, so I will repurpose and take back to my office in two weeks. I am an elementary school principal, so if you have any finished photos, hurry up with them! 😀

  11. Hi everyone!

Our family has been selling houses in Montgomery for over 7 years. Today we are trying to expand our business and we are searching for ways to advertise our listing. We have a feed, but after 3 hours of searching we have found only oodle where properties feeds are accepted. No feeds support on Craigslist, ebayclassifieds. 🙁
Does anyone know more well ranking classifieds websites where feed is accepted?

    Thank you
