Nothing spells Christmas more than a snow sleigh!
But how about a Christmas snow sleigh shelf? For toilet paper storage?
Before we go further? I also have an extra surprise for you. The Junkers United team are coming along for the ride today. So including 12 Dayers, that’s 16 brand new projects in total! Wow!
So much junk, so little time. So let’s get to it…
I’m by no means the inventor of a snow sleigh shelf. (I’m not sure who is?) But here’s my very own twist.
This little sleigh has been around. Last Christmas you saw it in my kitchen windows HERE. But today, its got a new outfit.
I started with a couple of pallet wood planks. They were cut to size, and waxed with Miss Mustard Seed’s Antiquing Wax.
I really like wax. It’s fast, clean, and I liked the really dark pigment this round, as it suited the original sleigh wood.
Once the planks were waxed, I had to come up with a way to keep the shelves stable.
Ms. Hackfest to the rescue…
“I very scientifically inserted a self adjusting screw mechanism into the wood shelf, with precise synchronized rotation.”
Deep, huh?
Once the screw was protruding just the right amount, I hammered it into place under the metal railing for a tight fit.
That move ought to win a hackfest award if I do say so myself.
Here’s a trial run before it goes into its permanent home. I couldn’t help myself.
Some cut logs were set in place, and votives of different sized were scattered around.
Spray snow, followed by plastic snow for bulk, then finally cranberries finished it off.
So where did the little sleigh shelf end up?
Let’s just say, my toilet paper is super festive. 🙂
Seems to be a habit. Last year’s was too!
And it kinda goes without saying, battery operated tea lights left unattended in a bathroom would be safest. Especially on wood. Real candles were used for photos only.
And here’s a non Christmas version.
It’s just quirky enough to be interesting, yet productive. My kinda junk!

What a fun project! You have accessorized it perfectly.
This looks fabulous! How does one become part of Junkers United??? Sounds like a fun group! 😉
Too cute! I love it! My only problem. I live in the deep South where we only get snow maybe once a year and if it stays on the ground for more than a day we call ourselves snowed in. We use knee board behind a four wheeler. Finding a sleigh here isn’t easy. I could see this on my porch wall beside the rocking chairs. Now I really want one!
Donna – I Love it! Thanks so much for including me! I glove some good junk – and this is a whole bunch!
Well “of course” your TP is festive…why wouldn’t it be?? LOVE this idea Donna!! You are my “Hackfest” hero 🙂
Just love the sleigh idea. I can see it having so many uses.
This is so dang cute, Donna! Now I gotta find an old sled for my TP too!
Love it! That’s putting it calmly.
Donna, I’m always amazed how you make your junk so elegant!
Donna, I’m seriously so excited every morning to wake up and see what you’ve created. You’ve outdone yourself again. Just adore this idea. You definitely gave this sleigh a fabulous new life. Even though it never thought would be holding toilet paper, it couldn’t look happier!

You never disappoint! I LOVE the sled shelf. Sleds are a little hard to find here in Georgia since we rarely get snow. And when you do find one they are pricey. This project just may make me splurge!
Donna – i LOVE this!! It’s SO YOU!! Thanks for inviting us all along for the ride!

I can’t wait to try this with my sled…..I will have time to decorate my own house, once the Bazaar is over this Saturday. I am working overtime preparing for it.
How very clever! Love the toilet paper version.
You never cease to amaze me with your creativity Donna! Your guests will be totally wowed when they use the powder room this holiday season.
What a genius idea. And thanks for mentioning tea lights vs real candles.
So pretty and rustic and simply lovely. I really love it in the bathroom–a fun unexpected touch!
I always love your ideas. This sleigh is adorable.
Now THAT’S justification for buying a sled [s].thanks!
donna i love the sled…in this part of tn there isn’t much snow so sleds are not abundant but i keep hoping to score one someday, all of this awesomeness gathered in one spot is blowing me away i enjoy it so thanks for sharing xx
The TP takes on a snowball effect, wouldn’t you agree?. Never seen TP look so grand!

Donna! I said it before, and I’ll say it again… you are a master! You come up with the most clever ways to use “junk”. I love this so much.
Brilliant as always. And how cute is it to have a sled in your bathroom all year long. Your toilet paper should be honored: it gets the royal treatment in your house.
I give it five stars! LOVE IT!
You have the best hot chocolate station and now the best TP storage… I’m jealous! I want to come to your house. Beautiful sled pics!
