Welcome to DIY Salvaged Junk Projects 464

Every Friday, 7 PM through Wednesday 11 PM Pacific

Howdy all!

We are kinda sorda bracing for a little stormy weather. So what did I do? I hightailed it to Lowes to pick up some building supplies so I could continue to work on a project I have on the go. I’m now ready for snow so bring it on! It sure feels good to work on a room project again, although they take longer to get on the blog.

Faux chalkboard bulletin board with a patterned effect

I also did a quick little faux chalkboard repurpose with a standard schmandard bulletin board… it has a fun tone-on-tone effect you can see much better in the post!

I also think I made a mistake in joining a gym. I get a little personal in this post and chat about picking your own poison amongst beautiful trail pictures which obviously would be my first choice! Come on over HERE and chime in with your thoughts…

And thanks again for bringing over such a fabulous lineup of your own projects last week! Here’s a few amazing highlights I fell hard for…

Don’t give away those outgrown childhood blocks too quickly… perhaps you can use them to make a unique mirror frame like this beauty! Isn’t that cool?

Susan wasted NO time! A new, oversized Buffalo Check stencil had just barely arrived through her front door which resulted in these super cute chunky benches. Full tutorial with stencil details are inside this post. They look so cute stacked up too!

And here’s a beautiful reason to hang onto some old leather boots that have seen better days… cut out a map of a place you love! I wonder if Maui would look good in leather…

I always look forward to this time of year, because Mary comes out with another beautifully crafted Valentine that’s all about those special paper and fabric flowers! Wonderful tutorial on how it’s done in this post.

Edited to add: last week’s linkup is back in action!

Party Highlights on Pinterest from Party Junk.53 PM

~ Blah blah linkup rules ~

1. UpcycledDIY home decor projects only please. Items for sale must be in tutorial form on your blog. NO FOOD NOR NEW CRAFTS please.

2. Linkups must be your own work, not another’s.

3. Only projects new to this link party please, to keep things fresh. Repeats may be deleted.

4. By linking up here, you’re cool with me featuring you on my blog,  Pinterest, Twitter, FJI Facebook with a link back to you, or its own new LINK WIDGET with no additional permission required.

5. No need to link back to the party! Would love it if you pinned the first gallery picture instead. Thank-you!

  1. Donna thanks so much for the feature. I have to be honest, I really don’t like the new and “improved” inlinkz. I know some bloggers are using another method which is actually free. It’s called Link Party Animal. Check it out. I hope you have a great weekend and enjoy your new living room.

    • Thanks for the recommendation Mary!

I looked into it however some of their terms are a little dictative. ie: you can’t repeat a blog post into their system again until a year has gone past.

I use linkups for other areas of the blog as well, so that format won’t work.

      I’ll keep working on this!

  2. Hi Donna – cold week, good move to pick up some building supplies before the snow arrives.

Thanks for your 464th DIY Salvage Junk Projects – sure hope there is some linky type form that will let you continue. There are some very weird changes to linking up to parties that have made it not at all easy to join in.

  3. Aw, you made my day! Thanks for including my projects this week. I love seeing everyone’s ingenious ideas for repurposing, up-cycling and making the old new again! Stay warm this weekend.

  4. Oh, technology frustrations, right? You’re so good about keeping up with it, though! The features this week are so unique; you’re attracting some uber artistic people here;) Thanks always for hosting, Donna! Have a great weekend!

  5. I don’t always post here, becuase I don’t always have something upcycled, but I love your focused blog without how-to’s and recipes. Thanks for keeping it going!

  6. I have 2 old wooden windows without the glass. I’m thinking once the weather lets up is to sand them down and paint them a color not decided yet, but instead of putting glass back in, I was thinking a mirror.

Do you have any suggestions on dealing with this? I used to teach making pressed flowers in the windows, so I’m pretty savvy on creating this design.

Thank you!! Love your funky website & great crafting ideas!! Keep them coming!!

I just finished LOVE sign made out of pallet wood, and scraps of wood. Turned out great!!
