Welcome to DIY Salvaged Junk Projects 543
.
Every Friday, 7 PM through Wednesday 11 PM Pacific
Hi all!
Our weather out west has been SO good lately, I’ve been hacking away at outside projects this week.
Most recently, I worked on the garden shed yet again, this round sharing the framing work. What. A. Job. This was my first time framing an actual building so you can bet it pushed me past my own limits often. In fact, I’m surprised I didn’t give up! haha
Re-framing the garden shed with door making tips – Part 2
But check this out. I made a door. A REAL DOOR! And learned so much in the process. So this post (Part 2) shares how I framed it up, along with my ups and downs and beginner framing tips… so you don’t make all the mistakes I made!
I also finally put away a puzzle that had been out for too long. I guess once the weather turned good, I lost interest… for now. But it was a mess, thanks to two shedding cats. So I came up with an epic way to get that puzzle squeaky clean HERE for next round again!
In other news, I’m currently right in the middle of designing new fall stencils, and then I’m moving right to Christmas next! So if you have any suggestions on what you’d like to see, feel free to share in comments! I’d love to know.
I just wish there were about 3 of me right now, because I’m also siding my garden shed, painting the house, trying to grow a new lawn, and wishing for a vacation sometime in the fall. Dare I leave with all this going on?!
While I mull that one over, let’s feast our eyes on some pretty top-shelf highlights from last week’s party… get ready to gasp…

5. No need to link back to the party. I would love it if you shared the first gallery picture instead. Thank-you!
You are so brave Donna, reframing your garden shed–amazing work! And thanks so much for the party 🙂
Thanks Diana and welcome back! I’m still shocked I was able to save that thing, period. ME! The faux-builder… but I’m the real deal now! haha
Thanks Donna–love your party and seeing all the cool projects that get linked up. I used to do two projects every week, but now I only post projects once/month. Hence my scarcity–having nothing to do you with your party 🙂 My other posts are all about buying, selling, & collecting vintage.
Oh Diana, I so get it! I use to do more projects too, but working on the house itself changes that in a real hurry!
And you are welcome to share any of your newer home decor tours and so forth if they include vintage or up-cycled things made from the past!
Oh my goodness Donna, you really have been super busy. I’d be curled up in a little ball pampering my aching muscles if I tackled all of those things 😀
Oh girl, I did. More times than I can count! But since saving was easier than tearing it all down… LOL I don’t really think I had a choice!
Thanks so much fir the feature this week, I’m still collecting bottle caps to make more flowers.
Cool Linda!! And my pleasure! I love your project because it takes me back to my prime junk collecting days. It’s been awhile since I’ve found a fab bucket of rusty junk to play with!
Donna, you need a vacation, but you have to finish your stencils first ok?
Thank you for the feature. I just love your pallet stencils 🙂
Holey Moley is right on the Hour Glass. Amazing!
Why yes I do need a vacay Kim… maybe mid Sept… I’ll be pining one next week when we enter what’s likely our last heat wave. But right now it’s cloudy, and I’m all about the go go go! haha
Thanks for always doing justice to the stencils… love your touches. You get ‘me!’
You do seem to be very busy at the moment with all your projects, the shed is looking good. Thank you for featuring my fall sweater pillows. Enjoy the rest of your weekend.
Staying home all summer really put a damper on my mood for a long time. The only way I could climb out of it is do things so difficult that I wouldn’t have room to mourn! Not only did it help, it helped get tough stuff done. YAY ME!!
And I adore your pillows! SO genius and perfectly cozy-themed for fall.
That’s how I try to get out of a funk too, by keeping busy! It’s been a strange year for everyone.
Wow! You’ve been busy. And, you built a door?!!! I love seeing all the things that you do. You just seem to go for it & it turns out great.
Thanks for hosting the party. Enjoy your weekend.
Haha, I DID! I kept standing back and giggling and staring at it for a good long time to try and even believe it.
Framing taught me a LOT. And I can also see improvement in building skills with straight, joins, etc. I’m far from good but I think I’m a step up at least!
Thanks for your visit Virginia!
You always have the coolest features, Donna! Heading over to see your shed progress next. Have a great labour day long weekend! Would you believe we’ve already turned on the furnace? I’m so not ready for what’s ahead.
I agree Marie, these features are SO good!
And what’s up with the furnace?! I still turned on my air conditioner in my bedroom last night. LOL We have a cloudy day today but we are entering another heat wave next week… maybe it’ll reach you too!
And thanks for the blog visit Marie!
