If you’re a subscriber to my weekly newsletter, you’ll have been tipped off on my next little adventure in the works.
This week, I have the extreme honour of taking in and speaking at Snap, a blogger’s conference taking place all the way in Salt Lake City, Utah!
I’m so excited! It’s a top rated conference for creative bloggers, so you can bet there will be amazingness everywhere you look. Classes, parties, food, meeting new bloggers, pretty hotel rooms… I can barely stand it!
I’ll be speaking in a segment alongside Miriam / Hometalk and Heather / At The Picket Fence about the value of adding communities such as Hometalk to your blog life.
I’ll definitely be speaking from the heart. Teaming up in different ways with Hometalk has been life changing, offering a secondary place to showcase my work, as well as enjoying opportunities, such as Lucketts and Michaels, not to mention the friendship I have with Miriam (and her visit to my place HERE) and more. I’m so very grateful to have them in my blog life!
And as always, when I plan a trip such as this, I like to also take a day or two to discover what’s in the neighbouring areas. So I searched out ‘attractions in Utah’, and boy… did a get a little eye candy!
Of course, there’s Salt Lake City, which is a fabulous destination in itself! Must sees appear to be taking in the Mormon Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square, and I hope to find all the antique/thrift stores (of course!) and make it down to the water front nearby.
I was also NEARLY brave enough to head to Zion National Park. Have you searched that out? Oh my goodness… if it wasn’t all about hiking trails and not quite so far away, (and not travelling alone) I’d have gone for it! I’ve never seen anything like it!
Just for fun, check out this video on the most popular hike, called Angels Landing, by the extremely talented filming artists Donnie and Leanne’s World on YouTube. Hang onto your chair!
But… that was a little too aggressive for me at this point. So I pressed the easy button and will hover in Salt Lake City and just be. But Zion and Grand Canyon, you both are indeed on my bucket list!
So while blogging over the next week may slow down just a little, be sure to watch my feeds on Instagram and Facebook, as I’ll be sharing some highlights along the way!
Do you have any suggestions for what I should see while in Salt Lake City? I’d LOVE to hear!
AHHHHH!!!! I am SO excited for you!! My husband is from S.L.C., we met in college in the Provo/Orem area at BYU University. His family is all over the place around the S.L.C. area and we go back at least once a year. Too bad I didn’t find out more about SNAP early enough! Temple Square is a DEFINITE must. The grounds this time of year are amazing. Mormon Handicraft is a fun shop to see (not too far away from there) Joseph Smith Memorial Building (across the street from temple square) and if you want good eats…the Lion House! All within walking distance. Across from the Lion House and the J.S. Memorial building is an amazing mall for some great shopping. 😉 I don’t know how much free time you have, but there are millions of other recreational things to do. I can send you an email list if you’re interested. The Quilted Bear is further away, but an enjoyable handicraft mall. Can’t wait to hear about all your adventures!!!
OH, I would have recommended pizza at Spedelli’s! My nephews, Mac and Sam Spedale, opened it about two years ago. Rated one of the best in SLC. If you go back there someday stop in!
Have a fabulous time! Can’t wait to hear all about it!
i know for a fact i would not ever have the courage to do that trail lol hope you have a blast xx
I love Utah! We go at least once a year to the Zion area. It’s fabulous, amazing, magical and SO much fun! I always say, “it’s better than Disneyland!” We just went there again a few weeks ago. We do some of thoes extreme hikes and even some canyoneering. It’s awesome! Enjoy your trip!
I’ve been to both Zion and Grand Canyon, and they are both absolutely gorgeous scenic wonders! You can, if you wish, hike to the bottom of the Grand Canyon. And in Zion, it’s just a really easy walk in to enjoy the beauty. I hope you do get to visit them someday. Have fun at SNAP!
When you come back to see Zions make sure to go to Bryce Canyon as well. It is my favorite of the two.
My cousin used to be the head ranger at Zion National Park. his youngest daughter was married at the top of the waterfall you pictured. There are many lovely spots in the park that would all vie for your time. I hope to visit Zion when I make the trip to the genealogical library in Salt Lake City next year.
I love your bedroom and what you did to make over your bathroom. Makes me wish I did not live in an apartment so I could make such cool improvements.
Enjoy your trip. Peggy
If you can’t actually make a performance by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, see if you can attend a rehearsal. That’s what I did many years ago and, having sung in choruses, really found it interesting. Best of luck and have fun!
Be sure to visit Ruby Snap Cookies. My friend, Tami, is the genius behind the cookies and you will love, Love, LOVE them. It’s cute and right downtown Salt Lake (http://www.rubysnap.com/). If Tami is in the house, tell her Suesan sent you. She will treat you right.
Also, Gardner Village is a fun shopping area, but it’s a lot like Thanksgiving Point, but with a few more shops. Have fun.
Also, if you stop by RubySnap, there is a cute used furniture place with lots of unique stuff right next door. It’s called Chic & Unique. Enjoy the Beehive state. I’m moving there in June.
You should definately go to Gardners Village. My husband and I had our wedding reception there. It is so beautiful, especially in the spring time. Thanksgiving Pointe is also a great place to visit. Right now they are having their Tulip Festival and it is really amazing and beautiful. The MoTab choir is a must. If you can, the Sunday morning performance is absolutely amazing!!! Welcome to our great state and hope you enjoy your time here.
This is an amazing opportunity for you, Donna! I’ve really enjoyed watching your blog & business take off over the last couple of years, especially since you joined Hometalk. Congratulations, and I look forward to seeing what adventures you have in the coming years!
Debbie 🙂
Welcome to our neck of the woods! I’m about 15 min from Salt Lake, and LOVE living here…sorry about the crummy weather though 🙁 Some of my favorites are: Gardner Village, Wheeler Farm, This is the Place Monument & Temple Square. Zion’s and Grand Canyon are definitely amazing too!
