Hello friends!
Welcome to one of my all time favorite topics… old signs!
Old, vintage or farmhouse signs are a hot decorating trend. But being that antiques are never out of style, making old signs has proven to be a timeless choice for home decor.
Making your own signs can also be a huge money saver! And of course, gives you the ability to customize a sign’s size, colour, productivity, etc!
This post showcases how to make old signs in various ways, including a link-up below that showcases 133+ more!
How to make old signs

Make your own market signs with Old Sign Stencils / Funky Junk Interiors
This grouping of old signs was made by teaming up reclaimed wood fence planks and stencils. Yes, it was that easy!
This is a collection of stencils that helps you achieve market signs and iconic patterns easily, thanks to all the design work already having been done!
And customizing is easy. Change out the colours, add a shadow, mix and match up different words to create your own take!
This grouping of signs was designed for a local market I was selling at. Visit my post to see how I set it up HERE

Public Telephone sign / Scavenger Chic
This fabulous vintage public telephone sign design is iconic! In this post, Jill shows you the steps on how she hand painted this charming piece. Click the link to learn how.
National Brewers Coffee coffee station sign / Funky Junk Interiors
Desiring something to chime in with coffee, two fence planks and one of my Old Sign Stencils became part of a junk styled coffee station instantly! With a few rusty S hooks for good measure… Click the link to learn all the steps.
Hand painted fish sign / Scavenger Chic
Doesn’t this fish BAIT sign look totally authentically old? It sure does… thanks to a talented dry brushing touch used to get this look! Click the link for all the details.
Roasted Chestnuts burlap sign / Denise on a Whim
This cozy Christmas or winter themed sign was stenciled on burlap as if it was an original coffee bean sack. Love the added frame to finish it off as a work of art! Click the link to learn how.
Coffee Signs / Beyond the Picket Fence
Becky’s projects sway towards vibrant colours on reclaimed wood. And her signs chime right in with that theme. This hand painted coffee sign is fun! And so are all the rest. Click through to see them all.
Bingo Signs – find the stencils from HERE
Betsy is always pulling unexpected twists to her designs. And this Bingo sign didn’t disappoint! Using one of my own Old Sign Stencils, she created this sign design on separately planks. So cool!
Betsy’s blog My Salvaged Treasures is no longer online, however 2 variations of the Bingo stencil certainly is!

Farmers Market / Prodigal Pieces
I ADORE the hanging apparatus for this Farmers Market sign! It really chimes in well with the theme!

Hi Donna, stencils arrived last week and I haven’t even tried them out. Time to clean off an old fence board, sand it a bit and get stencilling. Thanks for PJ 277.
