Once upon a time I was just being cheap. So I gathered up some reclaimed lumber and pallet wood and just made stuff.

Who knew this would flip into a trend?! I sure didn’t.

So here’s my own ‘little’ collection. You may need a nap half way down… this list is rather… long.

  1. Donna,

You have done things with pallets that I can only dream of … you have put a premium price on pallet wood. I won’t be surprised to walk into Lowes or Home Depot and see a pallet sections selling for top price!

Alas, I live in a city. A city that uses and reuses their pallets. Even at the Salvation Army. Pallets are not for sale. They are for function.

Love your projects and your link party …

    :)

    Linda

  2. I am so glad you started this trend!! I happily gather up scrap wood from anywhere and everywhere. I am amazed at how much really good wood I find in and around Dumpsters too! I moved on to Garage Door Panels and made an entire outdoor room with them. When I asked the guy throwing them out if I could have them, he looked at me like maybe he should call the mental hospital.

  3. Thanks for hosting….I always love to stop by for a visit…it’s one of my favorite creative spots around! Have a blessed, joy-filled week. hugs, mb

  4. Thanks for this great party — I have about 15 boards from an old fence propped in the garage and have been collecting ideas for them. Lots of things pinned from your post already — now on to the party links for more!

  5. Hi Donna
Did you ever do a “copy-cat challenge” for a Saturday Night Special? It would be fun to see how many people have tried to copy something exactly off your site. I know I made your Farmer’s Market sign and it is proudly hanging in my kitchen. It is not anything I would normally post because I copied it exactly from you. Maybe a party where all the copy cats of FJI came out of the closet and linked back to FJI would be fun!

  6. Donna – Your themed link ups are so fun to visit. This particular one is a favorite – I couldn’t decide which ONE project to link so I linked 4 – may exceed the limit…One of my neighbors (that I didn’t know) stopped buy & told me I would love your blog….I KNOW! =) Funny hu?

  7. Thanks so much for hosting, Donna! Your talent and creativity ALWAYS amaze and inspire me!! You have created such an incredible home!!! I want to spend hours pouring over your photos!!!

    Have a fabulous weekend!

  8. Hi Donna,

First time in ages (since winter I think!) that I’ve been able to pop over here on a weekend for the party! Love all the projects. Linked up two of our own. Planning to add a mini pallet path in our new front garden on the side of the porch/stoop that the mailman uses – just like your walkway! :)

    Love ya!

  9. I can’t get enough of your posts, even when I’ve seen some of the images before. They are all so interesting and there is so much to check out in each one. Thanks for making things worth the time. The party is so full of great ideas as always. Thanks for hosting it.
    Liz

  10. I know I’ve already said this, but I wanna’ be you when I grow up! I love your projects and your ambition, you always inspire me.

You’d be proud of me, the other day I was at a garage sale and a neighbor had old fence sections of gray weathered wood and I asked them for them. I was so determined, my hubby rented a truck and hauled them home for me. Now, to get to work. Can’t think where to start……but will be checking your blog back often. Thanks for posting so much!

    You are SO appreciated!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  11. Hi Donna,
Wow was this the perfect link party for me. I have been following you for so long that I can’t even pass by an old pallet without commenting on how I want it and my hubby commenting how he will kill me if I bring it home. lol However all of that changed when my dad’s farm sold and we brought some of the old fallen building wood home. I can’t thank you enough for all of the inspiration. I feel like my daddy is right in the room with me now and it was a project that my hubby is even proud of. We still have a stack of wood waiting to become a farm table and I can’t wait for that to happen. Daddy will then be at each meal. lol
Hugs and keep creating your magic. I just love it.
    Becky

  12. Hi Donna! I’m pretty excited to be linking up today. I just started my blog last week, and this is my first linky party EVER!! Ahhhh! Thanks so much for the opportunity! Ok, and since it’s my first, I’m gonna shamelessly tell you that my linky is #217 in the Crafts, Sewing, Cooking party. Ok, I’m gonna calm down now… as if!!!

    Thanks again, Jeannine!

  13. Oh My God, Donna!!! Your stuff is AMAZING!!! I want to LEARN from you!!!
Your blog is overwhelming, how do you do all this??
I will have to come back and see the party as it is late and I think I was the last one link up in the gardening party!!!
After I wrote my post I came looking for you as I had promised you unusual planters, remember? I am so glad I could link up!
    I want to meet you!!!
    Have a GREAT week!

  14. love this theme! it takes me back…my dad was a carpenter then owned a box co. so we grew up with pallets & boxes…literally! our playhouse was made from an discarded old box! {he made boxes for part of the space shuttle, so they were playhouse sized!} when i left my job at his co. to go work in corp. America, i took a piece of a 2×4 for my desk…so i could smell that amazing pine fragrance all day long! ;}
