My grumpy self and I went for a bike ride and got cheered up by a sunbeam…

and then I even whipped out a project for this weekend below!

So… let’s go!

  1. Thanks for the inspiration, Donna. I know when I click on your email that it’s going to bring a smile to my heart. I’m in the hospital with Esther for her 4day weekend Chemo treatment and it’s got her knocked out. Thanks for the smile – I really needed it this morning.
Love the love in all the Valentines.

  2. I saw the title and thought “My Valentine’s Day project would fit in on this post!” LOL

You would be proud of me….I made a heart clock for my husband…for the master bath, so he can know what time it is in the morning while getting ready for work.

The clock part itself was a whopping $2.49 at CVS Pharmacy on clearance after Christmas. (was $10)I took a piece of old plywood and cut it to 18×18, then cut corners off to make it a hexagon shape…just to be interesting. Then I took a piece of wood that was leftover from making my kitchen island (the kind of wood you use for the side of a cabinet…real thin) and cut a heart shape with my jig saw.

I “stained” the wood using acrylic paint mixed with a little water. The hexagon is a light tanish brown, and the heart is red. I attached the raised heart onto the hexagon with a few scrap pieces of wood and some wood glue. The clock face has a sticky back, so that was easy to attach to the heart. The numbers were also sticky backed (and look like silver metal).

The plywood has some interesting natural features…and a stamp on it…so I thought it would look cool. I know it does cuz my 21 year old said so! haha

It didn’t take long at all to make. Waiting for the “stain” and glue to dry is what took the longest. But I had it done in a day.

Now my hubby has no excuse to run late in the morning….LOL
