A button garland for Christmas decorating
This little button garland for Christmas decorating brainstorm came by accident.
A big jumbled mess of buttons, hooks and other things resided on my kitchen counter. As I was cleaning it up, a few hooks grabbed the buttons… when the idea came into play.
A button garland for
Christmas decorating
Supplies you’ll need:
- random buttons
- Christmas ornament hooks
How to make the garland
1. Gather up buttons of choice that have at least 2 holes. Choosing buttons close to the same size makes the garland a little easier to put together, however try different sized buttons too!
2. Thread a Christmas ornament hook through a button hole, then pinch the end. Add a another button to the other side of the hook, then pinch to close.
3. Continue adding hooks and buttons until you get the look and length of Christmas garland desired!
That. Is. It.
This easy little Christmas garland is very easy to customize and fun to hang up on a Christmas tree, or anywhere desired.
Try adding string in place of the hooks as well for something different!

LOL how crazy is that. I have a garland on the blog today too, with buttons. People are gonna think we coordinated. And my garland needs to find its final spot too.
Great minds think alike….
Oh and your garland is adorable and right up this button-loving songbirds alley.
Donna I love that garland! I love the way it has metal between the buttons, (very junky)! I made a garland last week out of mini pinecones and beads, it came out great! http://www.homeroad.net/2012/11/mini-pinecone-garland.html
Thanks for the inspiration!
Susan

I love this!! I’m such a button collector and this is so fabulous!!!
Morning Donna, Amazing, how simple but just so very endearing. I have been fascinated by buttons my whole life. My Grandma would let me sift through her button box. Thank you for touching a wonderful memory.
Button, button, who’s got the button!? Donna does! Oh wow! This is fabulous and so creative. I’m in love.
Donna,
I love your button garland! What a great idea and it’s too cute! Have a great week!

This is a great idea…never saw ornament hooks that attractive, though! (I confess, I thought they were paper clips).
Fantastic idea–I LOVE buttons!I am so making this for next year!
You sure have a way with being creative–I did something similar with sea shells collected over the years. I wanted to be able to see them instead of keeping them in a box. And they make me smile..
I love the Button Garland. My girls and I made a button garland a few years ago. It looks a little different; the buttons are strung onto twine but I still love to pull it out each year.
