I’ll admit having a horse gate for a headboard can be a really cool thing at times, especially when it comes to seasonal decorating. Those hooks are a decorator’s dream!
And this is ultimately where my little button garland landed. And how a Christmas horse gate headboard all came to be.
How I did it
An evergreen garland is the easiest thing in the world to make. I tied together bough after bough with twine, then hung the works on the hooks.
Two ties on one branch were needed in some areas if I desired more overlap. This just better stabilized the garland for strength.
Accessorizing is the BEST part to any project I say. Most of these things were on the headboard already so adding greens was a pretty simplistic touch.
And no worries… the barbed wire is way high up, no danger of getting hurt. 🙂
The red ohio vintage license plate was perfect for this, drawing out the very colour I was after.
And there’s that button garland once again, looking cute as ever.
A work sock was pulled onto a sock form for a ‘stocking’. I like how casual it feels, which chimes in so well with this headboard.
Then the works received a light misting of spray snow, giving each piece a dreamy winter effect. I love it!
My bedding got changed out to white cottons I had on hand for an easy, clean different look.
And that cute little red pillow is very special. My son make it for me for my birthday one year with my Mom. It was his first sewing project and is made out of flannel. Adore. 🙂
This is all the decorating I did in the bedroom and it’s just enough for my little room.
Did you do any bedroom decorating or is that a room you leave clean?

Still loving your button garland…and that sweet teapot hanging from your headboard. That is so sweet to have your son’s first project for use of Christmas decorations!

Adorable! I love the button garland, what a great idea! Nicely done!
That is so stinkin cute! Very glad the barbed wire is up high! (I was a little concerned) THanks for the inspiration!!
I love the bedroom! Right now we haven’t begun decorating in earnest…. the tree is up with lights and I changed out the lights. My husband will be out of town next week so I am hoping to surprise him by painting our bedroom and possibly changing out some furniture. That way when he gets home it will be cleaned, decluttered, painted and decorated… wish me luck as I am hoping to have the house decorated and baked goods done too! 🙂 Now… where are my buttons!?!
I love this. I have GOT to get something done with a bunch of old hooks,
Oh Donna! It’s amazing! I love the light dusting of snow and the color of the license plate. And the photography.

Wonderful as always!
