I’m one of those people that can’t overdue enough sunlight in their lives. It could be because of living on the ‘wet coast’.
With that in mind, this bells on a vintage hanger window display lets that sun shine in! In my salvaged farmhouse bathroom.
The concept is very simple. Hang a vintage hanger up, and clip stuff on with your given theme.
Instant and cute!
And very sunny.
In this case, I chose a ‘brass’ or rust theme of sorts. The big bell actually holds the works in place so it doesn’t swing around.
Rusty bells make me happy. They remind me of my childhood farm life.
Our 40 cows didn’t wear bells around their necks. But Dad had his own way of knowing where they were, and how to round them up for milking time.
At a certain hour, he’d go outside, cup his hands to his mouth, and shout out, “COME BOSS! COME BOSS! COME BOSS!”
One by one, they’d turn from their grazing and head for the barn for their promised treats.
And then I had my own way of calling my horses… who shared the same grazing field as the cows.
I played trumpet in highschool, so I’d yank open the window, sit on the back of the couch, and do that trumpet army tune call thing. (NO idea what the name is!)
I liked that one because by pinching your lips into the mouthpiece a certain way, you could hit all the notes without keying anything in. (Talent runs deep here I tell ya…)

Unfortunately, my trumpet blasting would bring the cows forward… but the horses not so much.
Oh well. It was one way to get in a little practice.
Even if my horses didn’t appreciate my world of ‘musical fine art.’ 🙂

Donna you’re just knocking it out of the park this year. Trumpet and all!
You find the most amazing stuff! Not only that hanger but the bells too! I love your window display. It is in the bathroom, right? That is one festive bathroom you have going there.
I, too, just love sunlight!!! This hanging arrangement is great. My husband just won a cowbell for placing first place in his age division for running a 55K … this would be perfect!!!!!
You played Reveille on your trumpet. Love the window decor. Your ideas are endless! Thanks so much for your inspiration.
Loved your bell decoration, and loved your post!!!! Funny… Aren’t memories great!
Perfection!! Now excuse me while I go dig through my hanger stash…
A vintage hanger? I remember having hangers like that! I can’t be that old! lol Now I wish I still had those old hangers! I loved the hanger you used to hang your drop cloth curtain. I found one like and 3 pant hangers at the thrift store. Yes, I grabbed them as quickly as I saw them!
Hi Donna, amazing how you can take a functional piece of ‘whatever’ and turn it into a cool (I want one!!) Christmas decoration!! I really like the idea if letting the light in. Thanks for sharing and love the bells. Blessings and smiles, Emilou 🙂
LOVE this hanger! Great styling!
Gosh I love the way your mind works Donna!
