How to make a twig garland with video
Well, I’ve been at it again. I’m making another twig garland.
This garland is incredibly easy to make! All you need are a few twigs, string and about 2 hours of Survivor on TV. 🙂

This garland is neutral enough to hang it year around. Do you think you’ll give it a go?

See you tomorrow for Day 6!
Oh I want to win! I am so sad I can’t enter, I’d love a subscription to Folk and a handsigned Donna edition. Gold!
I guess I’ll have to settle for watching the video.
A fantastic prize! My most memorable Christmas gift would be that bald baby boy Cabbage Patch kid I got, way back in the 80’s. Ahhhh, youth. 🙂
Thanks for tutorial! I really want to make this. The hurricane knocked so many trees around here it shouldn’t be too hard to find sticks! Great weekend project that can be done while sitting and relaxing!
Susan
I love this! And especially love your version with the old soda bottles hanging from the railing! I’m very glad to have found your blog 🙂 Thanks for a chance to win!
LOVE that garland!! Thanks so much for the chances to win – have a happy day!!
Thanks for all the entries to win! Cool garland!
That looks cool. I think painting them and then cutting would be different and fun. Thanks for the video.
LOVE that idea, Joni! I think the cut ends with the painted fronts would be cool!
Wow! Gorgeous!
Great tutorial Donna ~ loved this last year ~ now I may even make one myself!!
lol. I’m pretty sure seasonable is not a word, but I love that you threw in that caption. 🙂
Beautiful garland!
Oh my goodness– Donna I love it! And what a wonderful video! Thank you so much for sharing this fantastic idea!

What a wonderful giveaway …and such fantastic and ‘achievable’ ideas you have for decorating the home all year round.
I remember your twig garland from last year. I love it! I really should collect some twigs and make one. Thanks for all of the fun ideas you share.
I live in Northern MN, so this is perfect for the “Up North” all year. Love it!
I have nothing but trees here in Oregon so this is the perfect project for me 😉
Love the ingenuity Donna, it’s super cute.
Too bad the raffle widget is either too complicated to figure out, or just plain won’t let me enter. (ie: “Click plus sign to enter”? Sign what?)
Anyway, thanks for the inspiration Donna, as always!
Laurie, the widget needs a few minutes to load as mentioned above. Your first scroll will not show the widget… it’s weird but oh well. 🙂 It’s indeed there!
Great tutorial and I love your twig garland. I wanted to enter but couldn’t find the widget…maybe widgets don’t work in the Arkansas sticks, lol!
Suzanne
The widget needs a few moments to load. Sorry for the confusion!
I’d love your garland, since I’ll never find the time to make my own. But I’d really, really love the Folk magazines, especially the Christmas copy!!

I’ve always loved this garland. Fabulous. Now a video!? Amazing! Love it Donna!

I would so love to win its beautiful
I wish you had showed a close up of the knot tying. No matter how easy you keep saying it is…to someone who has never done it a little bit better instructions would be nicer…a little slower maybe but mainly the close up of the knot tying. Just telling you what would help me actual make that garland…..Hugs! deb
You are right Deb, I should have done a close up of that part.
It’s just a knot like you would tie your shoe except without the bow. Place the twig in the centre of the string, tie one knot around it and another for good measure, loop to start another knot, insert twig, tighten, do another knot to double it, and continue on. I may revamp that video to include the extra close up steps at some point and will email you once I have. Thanks for speaking up!
Donna
Love the earthiness of it! It plays off of the berries so well. Your style is so pretty!
Yes, I want to win, too, please!
