Greetings all!
Finally… after staring at septic system connections in my backyard for YEARSSSSS, I finally had enough. A few weeks back, I told my son, “We’re getting a load of soil!” and off we went, filling up the back of the truck. Then I pulled out every container I could plant in. But even when I was stalled because I didn’t have a planter I wanted, I built one from reclaimed wood for FREE.
I’m squealing! Because not only did the grande finale happen, the garden is positively thriving! Now I’m glad this post was delayed because you get to see that too!
Upcycled planters in a raised vegetable garden
Part 1 – How to build an easy raised garden bed for growing tomatoes
Part 2 with video tour – Creative ideas for an upcycled container vegetable garden
Friends, it doesn’t even look like the same backyard. Please come and visit both posts to see all the hidden treasures! From the wheelbarrow I JUST landed, to the planter box I built for free for my row of tomatoes, to the DIY stepping stones formed in party tray containers, to the fun and easy way the tomatoes were staked, these posts showcase that if you can’t plant down, here’s how you can plant UP! In ANY space you have.
This move alone has triggered a chain reaction to all things garden this year. I feel unstoppable… without a real budget for any of it. I’m pulling from creativity, finding stuff, separating my own plants or landing some for free, and on the list goes. This garden machine will not be stopped! Until I overdue it here and there and end up at the chiro’s office. LOL
Oh!! And I just landed a massive rickety old wood bench today from a school yard… so that’s going to become a pretty feature coming soon!
But now it’s time to get even more inspired with these incredible upcycled project features from last week’s party… because I need to rest before my next big thing. haha
And a huge thank-you goes out to the creatives who share here, because there would be no party without you! Wait until you see these…

Patriotic American flag woven through an antique grate
Woven American flag on an antique window grate by A Pretty Happy Home
If you haven’t been following Annisa while she works on her historic home, you are missing out. Every gem she finds on the property, she flips it from a puzzle piece into an absolute keepsake with meaning attached. And such was the case when they removed a metal window grate, turning it into a beautifully woven American flag. Stunning. This MUST be viewed up close!

Thrifted tiki game turned wall art
Summer thrifted game as tiki wall art by Homeward Found Decor
Deb loves Hawaii. However when a trip was delayed, she decided to make Hawaiian accents a permanent part of her home. This $3 piece was revamped to suit her own home, bringing a feeling of Aloha and FUN into her everyday life! Missing my own Hawaiian stomping grounds, I’m so in LOVE with this concept. Plus, look at how the surroundings blend right in! I’m inspired.
