One day, I dream of having a big, wonderful farmhouse front porch that’s easy to capture in pictures.

Until then, welcome one and all, to my skinny little front overhang with the most challenging photo taking angles in the land!

Not only is there a little tree in the way, the three brick posts holding the roof are plunked down in the most challenging photo taking ways ever.

I’d like to morph this into a real front porch one day if I decide to stay over the long haul.

Anyway, thanks for the mini therapy session. On with the tour!

Here’s my front door decked out for the holidays.

I meant to make a wreath, so I’ll share it if I ever do. However this faux one looks pretty real.

Perhaps you’ll remember when I painted my door Bayberry by Fusion Mineral Paint in this post?

I knew it would look beautiful for summer, and especially Christmas, and boy was I right! This beautiful sage green just works with any season!

And it’s standing up outstandingly well I might add. I haven’t even scratched it (with my bike going in and out of the entry) yet!

The branches from summer were left in place, and in fact put to good use! Here’s one holding a festive red antique train lantern.

There’s also a little metal bucket for delivered newspapers so they don’t turn into paper airplanes all over the neighbourhood.

The other side of the door hosts a little wooden sleigh I found on the curb this past summer (can you imagine?!) with the You Cut Tree Farm sign I made HERE. I do believe the road still wears rubber truck tire marks from the sudden sighting.

A few firewood logs and real loose greens  I picked up from Lowes makes this little sleigh feel like it just came from the tree farm out back. Perhaps to stoke up the fire pit…

Always a story.

I think it will look really cute once it wears a dusting of real snow. Please, wet coast?

I didn’t put any lights up this year, however this small burst of festive really does look cheerful as is. The green door with the deep brown-black trim really pulls it all together so well!

And just one year, you may even see a real looking dreamy front porch right here in this spot!

Dear Santa…

What’s your front door decked out like this year?

  1. Very pretty and I love all the natural wood. Our front entrance is very different this year but I figured it out and that’s what counts. Think you may like my post today and then next week I get closer to the front door share. Fresh cedar was my inspiration in addition to logs. We’ve been cutting down trees so it just made sense.

  2. Love, Love, Love the wonderful display on your front porch! You are so creative and talented, Donna! I need you to send some of that my way! Thank you for sharing with us!

  3. Well, girl, your front porch at least has an “over-hang” and is longer–tho’ not wider– than mine! There’s always someone worse off than ourselves, right? Ha, ha!

Interesting that you should mention the paint you used on your door because as I was looking at your photos I was thinking, “I wonder what color that is on the door. I really like that shade of green.” I want to paint my front door and have been going around and around trying to choose a color. My house is a lightish grey and someday I’d like to add some white shutters to the windows (3) in front. So I think that color on your door would look good on mine. Would you be willing to give me the name and brand of the paint?

All in all, I think your front “stoop” looks very festive! Happy Holidays!
