Say a group of bloggers got together for a shopping trip. You venture into Granny and Grumpa’s Antiques, hoping for the moon.
What do you think they’d come out with?
Well.. some bought vintage kids desks. Others bought modern furniture. Some even picked up a few glass vintage insulators… all that stuff was pretty after all!
But nothing was really grabbing me. I’ve been here many times before. I kinda have a full house and didn’t need anything, yet needed stuff, know what I mean? I needed new stock, but something that didn’t eat a whole lot of room.
But then in one of the barns at Granny and Grumpa’s, I spotted something with rust on it and started toting it around, It was a can filled with these rusty S hooks.
That in itself made me happy. I was at the hardware store the other day and was forced to buy BRAND NEW! Nearly killed me. I asked them why they didn’t store them outside so I could buy patina with it. They told me to call my friend Dan and ask for his recipe. Small town mentality, ya know? Someone always knows someone that can help out.
“I know… I like rust.” is my typical response. I’m use to the tongue tsking and chuckles under one’s breath. I do it myself!
“HUH huhhuh….What are you gonna do with THAT?!”
“I dunno. I just like it! And it must be real cheap, cuz it’s rusty, RIGHT?!”
I was ready to tango here…
“Well you just come with me then. We have a junk bin in the other barn.”
What? Junk bin? Why didn’t we get escorted to that first?!
So a few of us followed (‘some’ may have pushed and shoved) Grumpa past the outdoor frog collection, past the haunted doll room, (oh, don’t miss THIS ONE!), past a barn gate… and into the ‘junk room’. We searched for the switch in the dark, but once found…
Rusty junk in bins and bins! And more bins and bins and bins! For cheeeeeeeeeep!
(thank-you Tara for giving up that cast iron beauty!)
So I scooped up all I could (this stuff is not exactly paper weight light) and ran to catch up with the rest.
I don’t get it. Why did they leave so soon? There was another 3 hours worth of oogling in that room. 🙂
And that’s what you get for junkin from the rusty junk bin at Granny and Grampa’s Antiques. Now I can’t wait to get back there and get more…
Just don’t tell Grumpa how excited I was… he may discover rust inflation. 🙂
What does this kinda haul say to you? Would your family laugh you outta the house?
