When bloggers and biz hook up

Since I’ve been blogging full time, one thing has been missing.

And that’s girl (aka blogger) time.

But that all got fixed over the last couple days.

And it was Tara’s (Suburble) doing.

We’ve been looking for an excuse to hook up and do something. So when she asked about good junk haunts, I was glad to coax her and a few others my way!

And THEN… Jennylyn (Fusion Mineral Paint in Toronto) wanted to stop by. Hello!!!

So this happened next.

And a few cool stops!

But first….

Jen brought her fabulous loot with her. So we played one evening in my photo studio.

If you ever have the opportunity to hook up with one that produces paint, you are in for a real treat.

Paint, stencils, tips, laughs, mess ups, successes, we had it all.

And I will say this. Working with Fusion Mineral Paint and those fat paint brushes is like painting with creamy whipping cream. Oh my gosh… I’m off to practice just a little more with it and then my kitchen cupboards are in for a good hit. I. Cannot. Wait!

And then the next day…

bloggers day out-9325
Hello high tea! Have you ever had high tea? You should. It’s just all these finger sized pretty food. And I swapped out tea for coffee of course. 🙂

And then there was the junk…

We hit the ever so fabulous Granny and Grumpa’sSpruce Collective, and a few other thrift stores nearby, and then…

the tailgate party began.

Boy did we bloggers get spoiled!

So while I’m running a few days behind with blog tasks (the winner of the toolbox kits will be announced soon!), now you know why.

It was very quite simply, a girl’s day out of connecting and shopping, and eating…

and now I’m missing these girls.

It made me realize just how fortunate we are to have the friends we do so near by. So get out there and connect with a few!

But I just want to make a special mention here. This girl? She hopped on an extra plane to make the trek out here so we could meet up. And was so generous with her talents and time. It was so neat to hear the workings of her business and prospering new ideas ahead. You WILL be hearing more of Miss Jennylyn soon.

I’m just so very grateful that this girl’s day out transpired.

When’s the next one, guys? 🙂

Oh… and I’ll show you what I picked up soon. I totally did NOT have my camera in my hand enough today! What was I thinking…

Are you overdue for a blogger’s day out?

  1. OMG! That sounds like an awesome, awesome day!! My head is still spinning from our Blogpodium experiences. But you’re right, a bloggers day is in order!!

As for Fusion Paint – wow – it’s awesome! Did my first piece the other day and love, love, love it!! I’m sure you and Jennylyn had so much fun in your workshop.

  2. having a relationship can be nice but there is nothing like a group of like minded girls getting together for a day of shopping working and most of all the giggles xx

  3. Donna – it was so wonderful to finally meet you in person! I had a great day – you’re a junking goddess! I can’t wait to do it again!

  4. I have to ask… I love the torn/shredded jeans that I see you wear so often. What brand are they? I am so in love with the look. Thanks in advance.

    • Hi Carol!

They are by Silver, from Bootlegger in BC Canada. I want more, but then I’d never wear anything else! 🙂 Hope you find them! They’re lined which is awesome and fit really well in a world of the low cropper types.

      • Donna,

Thank you so much for the information. I am off to try to locate these denim beauties! Oh, by the way, I enjoy something even more than your jeans. Your junky, rusty style is my favorite. You are so inspiring. I read your blog before I go anywhere else on the net.

Thanks for always showing me creative ways to look at wood and rust. Love it all!

        Carol

  5. That Bibles for Missions is one of the best around. I find a lot of my junk, I mean treasures, there.
Is Fusion paint the same as Miss Mustard Seed’s milk paint?

    • Hi RoseMary,

The two paints are very different. Fusion doesn’t need mixing nor an overcoat, as it has acrylic in it. But nothing does that amazing intentional chipping like milk paint, so they serve two different purposes.
