One day Miriam from HomeTalk knocked on my door (emailed me) and invited me to share my crate toilet paper holder. I knew of this site as being a helpful community for all things home, but I had NO idea.
we could just share any given project there on our own!
So I went to further investigate. This was no small community with 100,000 members and 400,000 Facebook followers! And you know how us bloggers are… we love to share what we create. So, I shared.
The result? (click HERE to visit)
Over 6,000 views , 29 very kind comments, 388 shares and 21 likes in an all new community! Wow. So, I shared again.
Goodness gracious… 11,000 views, 40 comments, 554 shares, 30 likes…
So I kept sharing. Then started commenting on other’s posts. And quite honestly started having a really good time! But I noticed something else was transpiring at the same time.
People were asking questions on home issues and getting answers from pros. Really? For free?!
YES! Oh my.
Not only that, those that didn’t have blogs were uploading their projects and questions. Now that is something we’ve needed for a long long time, wouldn’t you agree?
So, that’s exactly what HomeTalk is. It’s a community built for home owners, renters, and contractors that shares inspiration via home projects and home products, and is a place to ask your tough DIY questions. It’s for everyone!
Here’s how it works.
Go to HomeTALK and simply Sign Up.
I was lazy and just clicked Sign up with Facebook.
If you sign up the website route and you aren’t from USA, you may run into a zip code issue. That’s being sorted out. For now, sign up as a USA state or through Facebook.
And BOOM… I was in and ready to post.
Click the red postoraskbutton, then a browse button will allow you to upload a photo of choice.
Fill in the blanks and you’re done! Keep hitting browse to upload more pics too.
See the finished post HERE.
Tip: If you have a blog, be sure to mention your project url so visitors can find you!
Here’s where it gets cool. If you go to your profile page, and click on posts, all your posts show up. Same with Clipboard, Comments, Likes, everything. So those that follow you can totally keep up with you.
And you’ll even see Miriam pop in here and there. Hey girl! 🙂
Share section
Share – HomeTalk is built to share, so share away!
Likes – like lots of posts! They make you more visible, shows up on your profile and it’s just a nice thing to do!
Save – click this to save your favourites to your very own clipboard for later reference
I’ll be there!
Can you stand more cool news?! I’ve been deemed one of HomeTalk’s ambassadors (yes… me!!) so you’ll see me pop in and out, answering questions, showing my stuff, flaunting your stuff, pinning, and maybe even host a little workshop or 3 on and offline. 🙂
Lots of fun things are being planned so I hope you’ll come on over and join the fun!
Come share, learn and grow!
So I officially invite you to come on over and talk about your home! This HomeTalk ambassador’s pinning finger is ready and waiting… 🙂

Disclosure: I’m a HomeTalk ambassador but I only say what’s on my heart.
This place looks wonderful! I have signed up and am following you. Thanks for sharing!
I just got featured on there and didn’t know it! I will definitely be signing up. They are lucky to have you. Have fun!
OH you are so sweet! You just featured my chandy… and I just discovered I don’t have it watermarked. Going to have to fix that real quick!! Thanks you are such a doll! OH and I need to drop you an e-mail real soon…. might be a day or two before you hear from me though as my boys just home yesterday so it laundry time for me. But I love having them back home so there is no complaining from me! 🙂
Peggy! I didn’t know it was YOU! I’ll watermark it for you and reupload right now! 🙂
Donna
I am posting my smile :)) Of course i pop up on every one of your posts, I love what you do!
Dear Donna,
Looks like a wonderful network! And it’s no wonder they viewed/commented/shared, your stuff is great! 🙂
Love,
A new reader in NE
This is such an awesome post, Donna! Informative and heartfelt. Hometalk really is inspiring. 🙂
So does this show up on your numbers on your blog?
Do you mean traffic stats? If so, if you put your blog’s url in your post and someone clicks on it, that would give you a hit on your home turf. This is why it’s so important to add your urls. You want people to be able to find you.
Being on HomeTalk will offer bloggers a broader audience (it’s a huge community!) that wouldn’t have otherwise seen you, much like joining a new link party. It’s a great chance to grow your blog even further.
I was so pleased to read about your post and hometalk, only to be really bummed since they dont accept me since i dont have a USA zip code and i live in South Africa. No worries though cos i follow your fabulous blog, TFS
smiles
Paola
Hey Paola, you can still get in as per my instructions in the post. Either sign in through Facebook or just add an American zip to get in. They’re working on it!
I love this new venue Donna! thank you for sharing with us. I’ve seen several bloggers I recognize and now some new ones.
Oh boy a new obsession! I’m soooo excited to check this out! I don’t have a blog….maybe someday….so it’s exciting to think I can share my projects here. And ask questions? How cool is that?! Thanks so much for the info Donna, I’ve enjoyed you so much on Pinterest, looking forward to this new endeavor!
