Glowy candles are a little near and dear to my heart during the holidays. So I felt I needed to make a new branch candle Christmas centrepiece with junk tray for 2014.
Do you remember my log candle centrepiece from last year? This one is done in a similar way.
Flickering candles remind me of winters on the farm. With ice storms weighing down power lines, we’d frequently lose power.
As adults attempting to run a 40 acre dairy farm, I’m sure it caused some stress. But as kids, it was an adventure!
We’d huddle together around the kitchen table in our coats, laughing at the puffs of ‘smoke’ in the air, as we played board games by… you guessed it, flickering candlelight.
Candles have a comfort factor to me. While I don’t burn them much due to romping pets and teenage boy, we do light our wood burning fireplace often, offering the same ambiance.
So this branch candle centrepiece, while shown with real candles, works equally well with battery run votives.
How to make a branch candle centrepiece:
- Cut branches in varying shapes at varying heights, making sure all the cuts are level.
- Find some funky junk apparatus for the candle bases.
- Pre-drill holes under the base board, then screw in branches from underneath.
- Attach the junk candle holders.
- Layer the boards if desired, and add two junk handles.
- Decorate!
- And light those candles.
Remember my bucket of junk from Granny and Grumpa’s junk bin?
That’s where all those bits and pieces and strange handles came from.
And now we’re all set for the power to go off… junk style. 🙂

I absolutely love this idea………can’t wait to get started on mine!
Your creativity never ceases to amaze me! What a gift you have! I have to improvise from creative people like you. I’m making a center piece similar to the one you made last year but with my own twist. Now I will just have to find a way to use this idea as well. Thanks for the inspiration!
LOVE IT … wish I was as handy as you. Would love to visit your home, too!
Ha, you did good my friend! I love your funky branches centerpiece candle thingy. Great start! This is promising to be a good year.

Morning Donna, oh how amazing you are. You can take the most unsuspecting item and turn it into functioning art. Thanks for sharing. Blessings and smiles, Emilou 🙂
I am in LOVE with this centerpiece, Donna! You outdid yourself on this one.
I love the Christmas candle centerpiece…very pretty!
Hi Donna … this is really cute … you have inspired me the point that I went looking to see what tree on the property I could cut some branches out of. Woodland animals would look right at home in this arrangement too. Lots of ideas. Thanks.

You’re the girl with the rusty touch! Leave it to you to take a pile of “junk” and turn it into something so festive and magical. In love.
