Welcome to DIY Salvaged Junk Projects 436
Every Friday, 7 PM through Wednesday 11 PM Pacific
Aloha Friday!
That’s a big saying with the locals in these parts where I’m currently hanging out. I’m not sure why, because every day you’re in Hawaii is worth celebrating in my option! 🙂
My apologies for not hosting a party last weekend. I pulled a spontaneous trip over to Hana for several nights and didn’t get home until late Friday when the party posts go live. So I just decided to give everyone a rest. (guilty as charged! I came out of a well worth it curvy-drive long-hike coma over the following 2 days!)
I honestly cannot wait to share some beautiful new sights discovered and brave new things accomplished!
I’m still uncertain how I feel about the coming-home part. Parts of me cannot WAIT to cuddle my cats and hit the bike trails and create new inspiring stencils and and and!
Other parts will mourn my surroundings that are as familiar to me as home itself. You mean to say I can’t float the ocean waves of that tropical blue water after my AM of working?! Whatever will I DO?! 🙂
Being that this was the last week of my stay, I decided to take on a small challenge I read in my new fav book Boundaries…(Amazon affiliate link) it was about how we allow social media to be chained to our hips with our online usage vs. living in the real world.
Pretty sure they are not exactly referencing those that use the internet for their actual workday. However, I admit, more times than not, my iphone is right beside me 24/7 and the moment it dings, I tend to respond.
The book reads that this is a BIG boundary issue today that tends to eat up a lot of physical and mental juice that is required elsewhere for more important real life things. So I decided to put online to rest for a spell and ‘be in Hawaii’ instead, delegating response times and not posting every single thing that I felt was Insta Story worthy. The move certainly opened up a whole slot of free time… hmmm…
I think there’s a time to work, a time to play, and a time to just live life in the present world offline just for you. As long as you aren’t a slave to one thing more than others, it should all work out. Do you give all these three equal time or tend to overdue one for another?
Ok friends, you know I have not been creating here other than taking pretty pics and learning to relive life offline again, so thanks for bringing over these beautiful features from the last party… hope to join you next round!
Broken cutting board kitchen shelf by Homeroad
Susan brought a whole new level of ”kitchen-themed’ to this wonderful little shelf, did she not?! This is adorable, and super useful too!
Denim woven table lamp shade by Pillar Box Blue
I can’t even breathe… this lampshade is so scrappy boho-perfection! Really digging the exposed cord in the base too…
Vintage inspired military stenciled first aid kit by Sadie Seasongoods
Dear Sarah, do you have any idea how many times I’ve wanted to create a first aid kit out of some super sweet vintage bathroom shelving I have buried in my stash? Countless! And there you go and just DO it.
Adore the super clean lines and yes, the graphics are everything!
Scrabble tile and yardstick garden markers by Adirondack Girl At Heart
Garden markers really can’t get much more charming than utilizing vintage pieces. And this version certainly does it for me!
Love how you can customize these.
Stenciled chicken feeder succulent planter by Fresh Vintage By Lisa S
Dear Lisa, please send this to…
I am loving the double layer of planting on this one! You get fill (bottom level) and thrill (top) all in one!
Repurposed wheel and yardstick summer flowers for the garden by Lora B
Ok, I think I have a vision on what to do to my own reclaimed garden fence now… because these wheel flowers are not only perfectly themed for the outdoors, they seem to pick up where a possibly flower-less garden may exist. Plus, you can’t kill these…

Thanks so much for the feature Donna–much appreciated. I hope your last week in Hawaii is great fun!
I don’t know if I dare read that book. I know I spend too much time on my phone/iPad . I’m too off on my holidays next week I will try and go offline for a few days. Thank you for featuring my denim lamp.
Thank you for hosting the party. Enjoy the rest of your time in Hawaii!
It’s great seeing so many blogger friends featured this week! Thanks as always for the inspiring party, Donna and have a great weekend 🙂
Thanks for featuring my wheel flowers, Donna! They are more fun en masse and would be perfect for your new rustic fence! Plus, you probably have all the fun stuff laying around to make them. Glad you’re enjoying your vaca; thanks for still hosting while you’re relaxing;)
oh Miss Donna, i hear you about boundaries and social media as a time and attention sucking habit! i have set time of day when i check email and social media, and i have all notifications turned OFF on my phone. still… i think i need to get that book 😉
loving the ‘broken’ breadboard shelf (i think i might break one on purpose just to try this idea!) and the scrabble tile garden markers – every week, i see evidence of what we creative types can do when we are NOT on the computer! LOL
thank you so much for hosting your awesome party!

Hi Donna, thank your for your 436th DIY Salvaged Junk. This wee I had fun with a fruit cake lidded tin from the free table at the Thrift Store – and your stencil – great mix, so my very worn out snowman blow mold joined in too. Hope you week goes wonderfully and you enjoy every single minutes. Hugs.
Joy
So happy your still enjoying yourself Donna and taking a real break from this digital world that seems to have gone mad. Yup and I’m so guilty of spending way to much time working out my laptop butt and exercising my mobile fingers. Have fun and come back safely
