When BE is enough

There was a knock on the door today I didn’t expect.

First, the delivery driver apologized for waking me up.

Hmm… he didn’t wake me up. I guess I should have taken more time to get cleaned up for the day? 🙂

Anyway, upon opening the package, I knew exactly what it was!

YES! I wrote a post for Snap Creativity (HERE) with my word of the year, which was BELIEVE. The letters came a little late to include in my post, but that’s ok! I BELIEVE I will love them just as much! 🙂

These sweet things are under the Heidi Swapp brand sold at Michael’s. And they were so easy to put together!

(the letters were gifted to me via Michaels)

… the wiring fits right in (along with a map I actually needed)…

… with room for the battery pack. Sweet!

Wait a minute… 2 batteries… for each letter?! oops…

Right about then I was wishing my word of the year had been DO. 🙂

Because I only had enough batteries for two letters.

Ever play Text Twist? Is that still online? You are given a jumble of letters, and for a limited time, you make as many words out of them as you can before the time is up. (loved that game back in the day)

BE was the only thing that made sense.

It looked so cute all lit up, so I placed it in a neat spot near where I was working, and went about my day.

Turned out, today was a good day to receive just BE.

My clean paint studio went KABOOM today while I was attempting to move stuff in. It’s a (happy) mess, but it was still was over the top. Again! Didn’t I just purge that place?!

And then the phone rang. I tripped over the vacuum cleaner cord only to answer another dreaded ‘free Google listing’ automated prompt. I get them every day. They must really love me.

And then my mind went other places. I was thinking about things I should be doing or should have done, which morphed into the land of failures, what ifs…

Well, things went down hill from there. Let’s just say, whatever crossed my path, mentally spun into a weird place.

So while standing in mid pile, with two paint trays on the go, and nothing getting crossed off the ‘all important to do list’ or else I’ll die…

SLAM. “MOOOOM…”

“WHAT!!!!! Oh… hi. I’m downstairs…”

He’s home from school. Just BE.

And then I turned to my BE, and laughed.

BE was taunting me. For all the right reasons.

BE was enough.

I have a son!

We have our own home!

I WORK from home.

Doing something CRAZY COOL.

With no limitations. Everyone’s personal potential is as far as the world is wide.

What’s there to fuss about again?

I forgot.

This time, I looked THROUGH the mess, and it all disappeared.

I gave up the World Domination job today. It was a little daunting. 🙂

Just BE.

Because there’s soooo much more to this ride than everything just so.

I mean, what would there be left to do?

  1. LOVE! I just love everything about this post!
For a few years now (for a few reasons) the only TO DO I commit to each day is a good dinner on the table when my family gets home from their days… the rest is just gravy… now I know this isn’t practical for everyone, but for me and my limitations it is important for me to feel like I’m accomplishing something and not get bogged down in all I’m not able to do!

Let’s BE the best versions of ourselves we can be today and let the rest of the expectations go!

  2. Love this post Donna. Our world has been a little toppys turvy this past year and I started my days looking at two little words each morning
“Just Be” so I loved reading this post! Just Be in the moment and take it for what it is! Love love love your Blog!!

  3. Your story is pretty special…I wonder how often you think of how far you have come…you had faith and believed! What perfect little letters for your space!

  4. Well said, Donna! I can so relate to this lately, having taken some new steps and wobbling back and forth from that open-hearted “believe” space to the pushing-myself-world-domination space. lol! What a lovely gift from the Universe to give you such a clear “sign” in the midst of the chaos. Thank you for sharing … I’m pinning it as a reminder to myself!

  5. Just BE, who you are and who you were meant to be, a good mom, an awesome artist and a lady that inspires me with her talent and makes me laugh with her witty sense of humor on everyday life !

  6. Just “BE” in the moment, and don’t look too far ahead. It can be daunting at times. Oh, I like that! I’m going to get my oil changed this morning, and it’s right across the street from a Michael’s. Think I’ll get my own BE…. Glad I read your post before I left the house!

  7. Thanks I needed that chuckle today… with “Hmm, I didn’t just wake up..”
I love how you write your blogs..Keep up the great work…!!!

  8. Geez. That was a profound post and one that, I imagine, was needed by a lot of people. Include me. You just gave me direction not only for today but for a long time to come. BE is my new word too! Thanks!

  9. This is a wonderfully inspiring post which says to me that, sometimes, I need to slow down my frantic pace and count my blessings, of which there are many. Plus some days, just being can be difficult enough in its own right as it seems you experienced today. 🙂

  10. Thank you, I needed this today. I didn’t sign up for the clutter clean up thing because I knew it would just end up a mess all over again. Just trying to stay on top of 5 people is enough.
I appreciate your openness and honesty. Just keep doing what you’re doing. A lot of people love you just the way you be.

  11. Hey there, well i guess you just let it BE for now, but i though that you may can use some of the christmas lights the whites one, one string of 50 lights may do the job for the whole word, i BELIEVE u will BE able to keep lit anytime you want to, Have a wonderful Weekend.

P.S. U will save money in the batteries too.

  12. Donna you GO GIRL and always just Be !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Be part of something ,just breath(be) just Belong, Believe, go beyond your limitations whatever you want your imagination to be or go.Susie

  13. This was a good sign for me today. Being quite on the anxiety bandwagon, I’m striving to live one day at a time. I BElieve that one day I’ll be able to just BE. With God’s help of course ♥

  14. For some reason I so needed this today!

After feeling pretty confident in who I am and where I’m going, I had a moment of doubt…and then I read your post.

    BE.

That’s good enough for me. She sighs in relief.

  15. So true Donna, I thought your word was BE from the picture, and it just made sense to me…Believe on from there is important to tuck inside and keep stoked as we step through each day….
I had to laugh at your Google call…we get them all the time too, so once I see a different area code I just forward to voice mail…and guess what, not message! So if you hear of a way to stop those annoying calls, please share!!
Love how you styled your word…enjoy and BE !!
