Happy New Year, everyone!

And what better way to ring in the New Year than with food and junk!

Ok, well, it isn’t all junk. Let’s call this one junk enhanced pretty.

You see, the great folks at Wayfair sent me this GORGEOUS cloche to play with.

(stock changes frequently – there are other cloches if this style is not available at this time)

Truth be told, the cloche was totally drop dead amazing on it’s own with it’s vintage styled wavy glass and wire caged mesh.  But you know me… I have to get my junk fix in there, so I simply layered the base with another baking pan

Food needs to come out anyway, so why not incorporate it into your permanent seasonal decor? Hence… a food inspired centrepiece!

How I did it:

I gathered up all my fav galvanized finished trinkets, ready to play.

A clipboard, lined with some music sheets from an old hymn book was a nice neutral start.

Now, every New Year’s party needs confetti, however I don’t stock regular party things, so I made my own out of HomeTalk and Wayfair logos to honour them for my lovely gift.

Music sheet streamers were quickly created by cutting some pages through a paper cutter…

… then getting twisted around a pencil. So cute!

Vintage bingo cards as a table runner and blue hydrangeas helped further create an icy winter wonderland hued theme. This is New Years after all.

As for our party?

My brother and his girlfriend came by on Christmas, and we enjoyed a centrepiece nearly identical to this one.

It was so nice to chat over the candlelight and munch on the festive treats in front of us. I went to the local deli and added some cakes that went along with my own cookies, threw in a few pistachios, chocolates, oranges and enjoyed quiet conversation over coffee and tea. It was perfect.

Having the centrepiece out during the entire season, fully stocked has been like a gift of it’s own. The extra attention to something as simple as food has made the experience of indulging all that more special.

All because of that sweet little cloche. Did you know this was my first cloche ever?! It is! I’m in love.

It was also fun mixing and matching cups.

This sweet little number is a true blue vintage variety, rescued from a thrift store. The designs are all hand painted. So sweet! It’s delicate crackle finish is precious and it appears to be from Holland.

  4. Happy New Year Donna! All the best to you and yours during 2013! I adore your new “old-looking” cloche and your display. I’ll have to admit that I’m cloche-less! I looked at one wistfully yesterday, but I came home without it. Now I know why. I want one like yours!

  5. Thou art pulling our leg! Your first cloche ? Yet you handled it like a pro! Good going, Donna! I know it won’t be your last. Happy New Year! Keep up the great work because we need you and your inspiration to get us through the ho-hum days ahead. HUGS!

  6. That is the best cloche ever! Wayfair got what they wanted – I went to their site to check out this cloche, but it isn’t showing up anywhere. Big mistake Wayfair! Thank you for your best wishes, they are just what I need. I say back atcha!

  7. Beautiful cloche! Hey, I recognized the piece of music you were cutting into curls by reading the notes – “Rock of Ages.” But I didn’t recognize the language. Happy New Year, Donna

  8. Absolutely fabulous as always. I too, went to the Wayfair site to order this cloche and none to be had. If they want the advertising they should have the product. This is not your fault, but you may want to be cautious next time.

  9. Love it! That lilttle cloche with cookies inside is so sweet! Love the way that the entire centerpiece came together and how it invited folks to sit and chat! Love the little sled idea too! You always come up with the most amazingly creative ideas for my favorite – JUNK! Looking forward to seeing what else you have in store for 2013! Wishing you and your family a very Happy New Year! Hugs, Leena
