I’m back from Lucketts. What. A. Trip! I’m still trying to adjust to the time change, but the trip was wonderful and the flights uneventful.
There wasn’t time to blog while on the road, but if you were a follower of Funky Junk’s Facebook, you were bombarded with current instagrams as they transpired! While it’s tempting to jump ahead and show you all the Lucketts junk and stuff, let’s back up a little, because you just won’t want to miss the rest of the story!
This one’s for the decorators.
Part 3 – Home tour of The Graphics Fairy
Oh goodness. I was about to meet The Graphics Fairy. And STAY with her! GUYS!!! Thrilled beyond words.
Looking frightfully frightening from a long LONG day of travel, I sucked it up and luckily forgot all about it when I spotted Karen and hubby Paul at the end of a long hallway. I’ve never had someone pick me up at an airport before so this was a triple treat!
Karen is drop dead gorgeous. Petite and with the kindest eyes and voice, you immediately knew you were in the right hands with the perfect person.
After driving to her stunning home,
she settled me into the loveliest of rooms. Being that it was dark out, I wasn’t able to capture the true beauty until the next day.
And I wasn’t disappointed. I woke up to a sun dappled lit room with sun streaming through the sheers and refreshing light mint green walls against white distressed furniture. Gorgeous!
The tiniest of touches made the room extra special, such as that small vase with flowers on the windowsill.
Isn’t this wardrobe amazing?
The angel wings give it so much personality!
Karen had already fired up a smoothie for herself but I started slow with just coffee in a pretty white and monogrammed Anthropology (I asked) mug. Can’t remember which Keurig coffee she had on hand, but it was the best I’ve had yet. Gave you a REAL good, yet smooth hit! Strong coffee drinkers know what that’s all about. I’ll admit, I do believe she has me sold on the smoothies for breakfast.
Karen’s kitchen was warm and charming, decked out with vintage touches everywhere you looked.
I gasped when my eyes landed on the black, distressed kitchen table. Isn’t it stunning against the checkerboard floor?
A tarnished silver plater layered with stoneware made for one pretty centrepiece.
Beautiful, dried hydrangeas added the perfect, quaint touch.
I must admit, I felt right at home, with surroundings and company. Karen carried on with her work while I slowly woke up. Then you KNOW I had to grab the camera (after my smoothie) and shoot the rest of her home, right? Right!
Decorators, get ready to swoon. And feel a need to clean your house.
This oversized clock was magnificent. If I were a thief with a VERY big purse, this would have gone missing.
Cool pillows themed the seating areas.
I’ve never really focused on trophies before visiting Karen. Now I want to! Maybe I can find a nice rusty one… yeah! Aren’t they a stunning visual grouped together?
I loved the contrast of the dark boots against the light carpet.
Isn’t that scalloped stairway trim amazing? A truly vintage woodwork feel.
And boy, can Karen stage. I’d say her style is vintage minimalist.
She knows when the story has been told and therefore knows when to stop.
Which makes her home a dream to photograph.
I know… that giant terrarium hiding succulents sitting on that cool coffee table is beyond beautiful.
I commented on the woodwork. I thought the floors were old hardwood. They are actually new floors chosen extremely well for desiring a vintage era. I love the narrow slats!
Breathless yet? Me too! I didn’t want to leave!
But we had sights to see and things to do. But not before I took a quick shoot of her home office.
Karen’s passion is paper. She specializes in sharing vintage graphics on her blog, The Graphics Fairy, that she finds in old books wherever she goes. I run for rust and reclaimed wood, and for Karen, it’s vintage graphics no longer being produced. She also edits them frequently, giving you a choice of several colours.
When I saw how she was storing her paper, I asked if I could show you that as well. You’ll love her little hideaway!
Cool piece!
Crazy about the wooden drawers and wire baskets.
And here’s a stash of that infamous paper.
Curious about the work that Karen does?
This is her main blog where Karen shares 2 new FREE cliparts a day HERE.
Karen’s DIY blog is where she and her contributors share what they create with the vintage clipart HERE.
If you love typography and designs on nearly any surface, you’ll love what you’re about to discover! I’ve borrowed a fair amount of her graphics as well. Here’s a sample…
I found this delightful mason jar graphic HERE.
Then I further embellished the jar with my own twist to create fun labels for these sandbag giveaways from the Hometalk Meetup Out of Africa event.
Well! I know! You totally need to investigate those blogs! And you’ve got some time. I’ve taken SO many pictures on the Lucketts trip that I had to divide Day 3 into a couple of sections…
Next up… Part 4 – taking in the sights with Karen and making a last minute drop in on another famous blogger… stay tuned!

Karen’s home is lovely! Thank you for sharing photos of her home with us. I actually met Karen on Sunday at Luckett’s and when I said hello to her, she greeted me with a hug. So sweet…everything she touches is magical and that comes across, especially when you meet her. You also were rocking Lucketts Donna…building things out of “nothing” and creating before everyone’s eyes. Loved it!! Thank you for taking the time to do that and to share a bit of yourself with others…

Excellent tour. You captured the lady behind the graphics. Or is that the fairy of a lady? Either way you put a warm home with the person, makes all the graphics she shares with us that much more personal.

Uh-may-ZING! I want to move in…
What a great home tour-thanks for posting. Any idea where Karen got her fantastic coffee table?
Donna, thank you for the beautiful TOUR. Her home is lovely and awesome! You do a beautiful job of decorating. I understand why her guests would not want to leave. Keep up the good work and let us be able to enjoy it along with you.
At one time I had the “gift of design”, until I fell and it resulted in a head injury – an inner ear concussion, leaving me with brain damage, balance – GONE, organizational skills – GONE; ceativity – GONE; decision making – GONE! But you know it is people like yourself and others that bring the beauty of creativity to those of us “who crave it so much”. I know that our wonderful GOD and Savior, Jesus Christ has His plan for us! He is always Blessing me with people like “YOU”! God’s Blessings to you.
I will keep up with your Blog.

Visiting your home was wonderful. You seem to have the same taste as I have. Or would have if I had the nerve to rid myself of 40 years of accumulated “stuff” and start fresh.
