I thought Christmas was on Saturday. Glancing at the calendar today, it’s Wednesday! How did I get that wrong?! Maybe it’s a good thing after all, because I was just in the workshop cutting these cute little stenciled scrap wood Christmas and winter trees, totally oblivious to the shortened deadline!

Glad I did it now anyway, because this is my fav Christmas project this year thus far! These little trees put me in mind of some similarly yet colourfully made trees by the amazing Michael by Inspired by Charm HERE.

They were so ridiculously easy to make, and are perfect as a gift wrap embellishment, table-cape feature or cute Christmas display somewhere.

I LOVE making DIY projects from wood scraps, because not only do they look cool, reclaimed wood is a resource nearly everyone has some access to.

So let’s make these adorable stenciled scrap wood Christmas and winter trees, then I’ll show you a couple ways to display them!

Materials used:

1 reclaimed wood standard fence plank. Mine measured 6″ wide x ¾” thick.

How to make stenciled scrap wood Christmas and winter trees

.

1 . Cut a fence plank at 15 degrees.

2. Flip board over, then position so top of tree point is in the middle of the cutting track. Cut again.

3. Repeat until all the trees desired are cut.

4. Lightly sand each tree.

5. Embellish with stenciled designs if desired.

Tip: Stencil Christmas designs on one side, and winter designs on the other so you can keep them up well beyond Christmas!

The surface areas have just enough room for smaller messages or patterns, making the stencil Christmas Crates a perfect fit for them!

.As one display idea, I placed them inside an antique metal toolbox, with some candles and faux snow.

The toolbox works as a tray of sorts so it’s easy to use the faux snow in a contained kind of way.

And the back up is handy so the wood pops against it.

Add a few candles and dollar store found bottle brush trees and you have a pretty cute Christmas vignette!

Hmmm… I think I have just the window sill for this…

And here’s a few stenciled in white with just patterns. These would be perfect winter designs, since they can stay up well past Christmas.

As another simple candle idea, a couple white stenciled trees looked adorable on a white plate filled with faux snow.

The plate was set on top of a metal pedestal for a little more height. Made for a neat detail around the edges too!

I could also see these scrap wood trees as Christmas tree decorations, to decorate a tablescape, or used to embellish a wrapped gift.
