Bike Shop stenciled sign
.
If you frequent here, you’ll already know my own love for hitting my local bike trails. So it was only a matter of time before my own passion came through with a Bike Shop stenciled sign!
And now I can officially say ‘it’s a thing’ as well as easy enough for anyone to make, thanks to a few new bike-themed stencils!

The Bike Collection consists of 5 separate bike-themed stencils so you can design the bike of your choice, attached to the sign of choice!
Bike Kit is a complete look without needing to add anything more, unless you desire to!
It consists of:
A cruiser bike / bike basket with flowers, crate on a rat trap, dog, cat, planted flowers, and the words Bike The Trails / Adventure Awaits.
The flowers inside the basket can also fit on top of the crate if they are reversed.

My favorite part about this collection is how the bike can be modified into a cruiser bike, sports bike, male or female. Cool, right?!
It’s completely custom-drawn, inspired by a photograph of an actual bike.

There’s so much customization potential with this Bike Collection… and as time goes on, I may even offer some other seasonal takes!
Team up Bike Kit with our Garden-themed stencils!
Take flowers for example… you don’t even have to be a biker to appreciate this take!
So let’s go over how I made my own sign, then I’ll share some finished examples put to use!

Stencil brush (I love using dome-tipped like these)
#6 flat and round artist brushes
How to build the sign
.
- Two fence boards were cut to the desired length (each board is 6″ x 44″)
- 2 cross boards were cut to act as supports (6″ x 12″)
- the support boards were attached with screws
- (overall sign size – 12″ x 44″)
- (flat area between supports where bike and words are – 25″ wide)
You can see how this sign was built in THIS post… when it use to be a coffee sign!
Yes, I appear to repurpose repurposed signs.
Since this sign was my trial piece when I first designed these stencils, I don’t show the actual stencils in this post, but they will be in future Bike Collection projects.
Stenciling the bike
.
The bike is a very detailed stencil, so one can get as detailed as they desired using different colours.
Here’s how I got this look in two thin coats:
- Stencil the bike in white with a small stencil brush, avoiding where the black will ultimately go as much as possible.
- With a #6 artist’s brush, paint black details in for the tires, bike seat, pedal, chain and handles.
Learn more about how to stencil in THESE VIDEOS or in THIS POST.
Stenciling the flowers
.
A small #6 artist’s brush was used to paint the flowers in the basket in 2 thin coats.
- Peony and Damask mixed
- Brook
For Bike Shop, the stencil was positioned, then stenciled with Coal Black.
Adding hardware
.
Random hooks and screws were attached so hanging was possible.
Additional rusty junk hardware was added, such as screws layered with washers, and rusted hinges just to offer ‘old aesthetic’ details.
The finished result
.
The sign was screwed to the wall going right through the sign.
And here is the finished and hung sign, complete with my bike gear!
I chose the words Bike Shop for this particular sign, since I plan to hang it beside by bike where my actual bike gear hangs.
While I stenciled my own sign on a rustic wood-toned backdrop, these bike stencil designs would also look adorable on a pre-painted surface and pillows, which I’ll also be sharing in upcoming posts.
But for now, I’m thrilled my own Bike Shop stenciled sign finally marries my own passions, and helps organize my own bike gear, ready to go for the next ride!
And lookin’ mighty cute while it waits…

Really fun & cute! I especially like the addition of the galvanized container with the greenery. It’s the little extra touches you add that make your projects so great.
These are so cute – love them with the flowers. Took a break from making anything because I got burned out and it with the warmer weather headed our way creativity seems to be flowing again.
Another beautiful stencil to add to my want list. Thank you Donna
Super cool sign, Donna! Love all the mix and match graphics!
