Stencil pumpkin decorative pillows for fall
Supplies I used:
20″ off-white plain pillow covers
Fusion Mineral Paint (colours listed under picture below)
Staalmeester brush #3600 – this is my fav for large projects
How to:
- Insert a waterproof protectant (I use page protectors or a bag) inside the cushion cover.
- Position and attach stencil on pillow cover with masking tape
- Tap (or dry brush with long strokes using a big brush) the paint on the cover to achieve your desired effect.
My apologies for not having a picture-by-picture take this round. The actual stencils hadn’t arrived yet and the way I proof using other materials could have led to some confusion.
Video tutorial: how to dry-brush a stencil design
ABOVE is a video on my method of dry brushing to achieve this effect. Very simple and the results are stunning!

And here are the results!
The fun thing about the Pumpkins stencil is the fact that there’s two complimentary pumpkins on one stencil, exhibiting very different personalities. (one tall, and the other wide)
I knew they’d be perfect for pillows… and they were!
The most fun about designing your own pillows is the fact that you can choose your own home decor colours! I desired more of a neutral take so this is what paint I used:
Paint Colours:
Pumpkins – Fusion’s Coal Black & Fusion’s Casement (white)
Stem – Fusion’s Copper Metallic
Leaf – Fusion’s Bayberry
I adore how the copper had a slight shimmer making them feel even a little more special!
And here’s the other pumpkin on a black decorative pillow. I love this little squatty shape!
This round I stenciled a Casement (white) pumpkin on a black pillow cover so both pillows chimed in nicely together without being an exact match.
I also think Fall Greetings would look adorable run across the pumpkins! Can you vision it?
Isn’t it nice to have choices? Why, yes it is.
Stenciled fall placemats
Since I was on a fall roll, I whipped up a couple of cute rattan placemats with Falling Leaves and Fall Greetings – Large. Instant success!
Supplies I used:
Stencil brush
How-to:
- Position stencil on top of placemats
- Tap dry-to-the-touch stencil brush with black paint onto the placemats.

Falling Leaves is a ‘random pattern’ stencil that is designed to look beautiful if you continue the pattern side-by-side. Nothing to match up exact. So easy to work with!
I stenciled the entire pattern on the placemat, then added the odd other leaves to fill in spaces towards all the edges. It turned out super cute!
The leaves can also be used one at a time on smaller projects. I can’t wait to play more with this one!

Fall Greetings is designed with lots of iconic fall sayings all packed on one stencil. So convenient!
I used Large for this project. The small is perfect for smaller projects and is designed to fit onto the sides of the Vintage Wagon. Fun, right?!
I decided to stencil the placemats using the entire stencil as-is after seeing Carlene’s adorable Shipping Crate Stamps pillow HERE.
Love the outcome! And it fits perfectly on placemats!
Both placemats are different, yet they compliment each other.
Well, I do believe I have a head start on fall decorating so I think I’ll go pick up those white pumpkins of my dreams and maybe do up my mantel and front door next…
And put that cute little Vintage Wagon to work… I cannot wait!

Loved the pillows! But especially loved seeing your lamp, again. I think it has to be my all time fav creation! It just tickles me, every time I see it.
Thanks Brenda! I forgot to link up the lamp in the post… it’s become background it’s so embedded now. haha Appreciate the kudos on it still!
Thought my fall decorating was done, but having seen these cute new stencils….I may not be!
Did I understand that the four new stencils are not yet available?
Still very fun projects!
Thank-you Sharon! Yes, they are listed in-store. Any of the links in the post should direct you there! 😀
I really like how good the pumpkin pillows and matts look with your stuff, it’s like they were made just for you. Oh wait, they were! That’s the beauty of stencils, people can personalize them however they want and they look custom.
Love these, but I think your herb stencil has grabbed my attention. Writing a new book and it will fit in perfectly.
You’re so talented Donna….
