The reclaimed wood hot cocoa bar I wish I had

Welcome back to the 3rd ‘how I used winter signs in unique ways!’

#1 – Sleigh Rides Christmas card holder sign

#2 – Ski Lodge Entry Sign with Ladder and Crate Storage

#3 – Reclaimed wood Hot Cocoa Bar – you are here!

Imagine if you will, just coming off the frozen pond in the back field. Your toes, cheeks and finger tips are numb with cold.

But it’s ok… you had a blast! Even if you did trip over 100 or so corn stalk stubs poking out of the ice. (the perks of corn field pond skating…)

But now it’s time to get all warmed up indoors! Because you know what awaits you…

So where do you head?

Well, at my home on the farm, it was the stove. But here?

Welcome to this year’s Hot Cocoa Bar!

The rustic hot cocoa bar I wish I had. 🙂

I always seem to come up with a new version each Christmas.

You can see my tiny kitchen crate hot cocoa station with the beefed up old door and vintage cart version HERE.

Regardless, hot cocoa indeed reminds me of being chilled from icy toboggan runs or ice skating on the ponds. Running indoors, we’d be greeted with my mom’s homemade cocoa , freshly ladled from the big cooking pot on the stove.

You can check out her real milk and cocoa recipe HERE.

So, I wanted a Hot Cocoa sign stencil that was easy to work with, getting all the graphics on one simple wood plank if desired.

Using marshmallow tones along with chocolately warmth, this sign was designed to make you feel like you were getting a gulp of that cocoa before it even came close to your lips. 🙂

Hot Cocoa Bar comes with just the words. But once again, teamed up with the mix and match Winter and / or Christmas Graphics, you can have a whole lotta Hot Cocoa signs where no two will look the same!

1. Choose two boards with lots of texture. Lightly sand.

Tip: These two boards were not attached to each other.

2. Mark the centre of the boards, and align your stencil into place, using the engraved registration marks. Tape both sides of stencil into place.

Tip: if you are using any graphics, make sure to allow room for their chosen positions

3. Load a stencil brush, (affliliate link)  dab a cloth or paper to remove most of the paint off, then tap your paint over the stencil. Repeat with the graphics.

4. Masking tape off a line, in order to create a solid line design if desired. Press tape firmly with your finger right before painting. Once painted, remove the tape right away. Lightly distress once paint is dry.

5. Apply funky hooks in the striped area for your cups.

6. Attach boards directly to the wall, screwing right through the front of the boards.

Tip: when mounting, try and screw through the dark tones if you can so you don’t see the screws.

This junky little lantern was fun, outfitted with a battery operated votive candle.

The Served Here sign (or coaster) is made up from two stencils: National Brewers Coffee and Homestead Blend Coffee.

  1. I love this whole display! Leave it to you to come up with a deer head made out of scraps! You just gave me an idea to make coaster sets for some Christmas gifts! Thanks for your inspirational ideas!
