It was a unanimous vote. If you ask a local where one should visit when in Salt Lake City, Utah, you will hear “PARK CITY!” in unison.
Park City is a vibrant skihill destination with a killer view to match. But what pleased me to no end (and I may even have scared Virginia from Fynes Designs) was the fabulous fluke of finding junk!
With our dual GPS system intact, we made our way higher into the mountains. We didn’t spot ‘the town’ at first and nearly drove off.
But something pestered me… “What if the big deal was JUST around the corner?”
Not giving up… we found it. We found the colourful coffee shops and the buzz that makes Park City on Main Street so special.
Elated, we wanted to stop in for a bite to eat at a cool place. The kind you’d never find anywhere else in the world.
Which had us walking into No Name Saloon.
The brick detail called me from afar. I just KNEW it would be special inside.

Poor Virginia didn’t stand a chance…
“SOOOO… DO YOU WANNA EAT HERE?! BECAUSE IF YOU DON’T THAT’S OK… BUT… AHHHH! LOOK! WAIT… NEED THE (GASP) CAMERA… WHAT?! NO WAY… LOOK!”
I’m not sure if this was her thing or not, but she genuinely humoured my freakish nature and we stayed.

We spotted the most awesome seat in the house right in front of the window.
But you’d think the chairs were on fire, because I sprung up and raced for the camera in the car. I couldn’t stand not shooting this place for one minute more!
So these chairs? They were all so similar yet all slightly different. I figured they were made for the place. But no. They were original. They are as old as the hills and very homespun. Aren’t the shapes unique?
If you click on the picture to make it larger, (as with all of them on this blog) you may be able to take in the curves of the ceiling. It was scalloped and totally spectacular.
I really REALLY tried to stay put when the food came. But you can bet as soon as we were done, I was shooting everything in sight.

Oh. Did I mention there’s an upstairs? There’s an upstairs. When I found THAT out, you’d think they shot me to the moon I ran up so fast.
When I shot this light fixture, I may have mumbled something about this being the best day of my entire life.
Look closely at the map. The license plates are in the right areas.

Better.
As for the buffalo burgers? Incredible! If you are ever out this way, the No Name Saloon is calling you.
And we found the famous shoes in a tree in Park City. I imagine it must be famous because if you google it, it’s all over the map.
It isn’t every day that two Canadians go travelling together in Utah and find a well dressed moose in jeans. We felt right at home.
And you know when you find an amazing spot, such as this ski hill…
so you start snapping…
but every inch closer only gets more amazing?
Sigh… incredible, isn’t it?
But all too soon, it was time to go. Virginia had a plane to catch so we head out.
But we didn’t get too far. It was just impossible not to stop for a few final shots.
Park City? You are STUNNING.
Virginia, thank you for spending your last day in Utah with me, and humouring my obsessive photography, junk obsession and dual GPS arguing. It was a blast and went by much too soon!
“So.. should everyone go to Park City when in Utah?”

Donna – I loved the pictorial tour of Utah! The No Name Saloon looks like a fun place and yes I loved the chairs and that chandalier! So glad you got to visit and stay extra days with your friend Virginia. The photo tour makes me want to plan a visit there soon.
We were in SLC fall of 2012. Totally enjoyed it, but somehow missed Park City. SO… now that I’ve seen your shots we have to go back. Not an easy trip from Pa, so it may take a while to plan, but I’m determined to get there. Thanks for sharing!
There is a place in Mission, B.C. that is very much like that saloon. It is called Mission Springs. Maybe you could take some photos there and post them. They also have great food.

Oh my goodness, it looks like you could spend days in No Name Saloon and still not see everything. I’m dying over that unique junky light fixture trio. You really captured the essence of the tavern because I’m kinda feeling like I’ve been there now!!
