When one simple thing gets published

It never gets old, friends.

I was over the moon DELIGHTED when Somerset Home desired to publish my funky little potting shed sign on the shed.

Life sure has a funny way of working itself out.

rustic shed update
A little behind the scenes mentality…

This project started out as a means of introducing some garden themed stencils to the line. It was a constant request, so it was time to figure something out.

And that’s when my thoughts turned to the shed that needed a serious update.

Whew. Can you spell, “I went away this summer?” 🙂

But once home, well, I couldn’t look at ‘that’.

So a simple fix commenced.

I’m a sawhorse fanatic, by the way.

Once the basics were in place, it was time to ramp up a way to utilize the new Potting Shed design.

This little back story is the perfect example of how a blogger’s home is utilized for work. Your entire home indeed becomes your staging ground, but at the same time, it’s a tricky balance. You want these changes to make a real difference in your own offline life too.

But I promise you, the extra effort is always worth it. For many reasons.

Because one thing can easily lead to another. (visit my press page HERE)

Have you ever thought of how every profession has a stream of ‘what comes next’? Do you ever think along those lines with what you do?

Think in terms of cleaning the house. You can just clean the house to get the bare minimum done, or ramp it up and try something new you’ve wanted to implement forever along with it.

This is what I did with my own salvaged farmhouse bathroom redo. I was challenged to work with a modern vanity, but ended up with an entirely new bathroom AND new skills!

More on that soon, too! 🙂

So… let’s recap this one simple thing concept.

Put out your all, and pull out the VERY BEST you can do.

  1. Congratulations! That’s awesome. I’ve always admired your shed both in its original state and in its new revamped state.

  2. AWESOME!! You deserve it my dear! All of your blog readers have told you how cute your shed is and now here’s proof. Celebrate your accomplishments! Have you ever thought of turning your shed into a “she-shed”? I’m going to have to look for that magazine when I’m out and about. Have a great day!

  3. Congratulations, Donna, your shed just keeps getting cuter and cuter! I love how God took something you were skilled in but wanted out of (your former job) and blessed you with something fun.

  4. well deserved & such a beautiful magazine! I hope you celebrate…I sure would…I can’t imagine. pictures look awesome in there!

  5. I had just picked up this one and found your feature-whoo hoo! Congrats! The Somerset family is definitely at the top of their game-class act all around. But here’s my question…do you get paid anything, or is it just a boost for your blog/credibility? Have been considering sending in some submissions, but just weighing their “worth” if you know what I mean? I’d love if you’d weigh in on the R.O.I, because I know you are a saavy business woman!Always appreciate your insight:)

  6. What a huge accomplishment, congrats and I love your beautiful site, creativity and flair. You can feel the love from the magazine. Great job!
