Drywall repair for junkers… hello reclaimed wood

When I brought this curb side reclaimed wood storage rack into the workshop, did you notice the holes in the wall?

During my renovation, there was major wiring done to the house. In order to either locate or install the wires, lots of cutting into the drywall went on.

I personally had NO interest in patchwork quilting the holes. In fact, I got rid of every scrap drywall I had stored up until now.

I always figured I’d just cover it up with something… 🙂

And I do believe I came up with a plan… and it even involves the shutters my neighbour gave me the other day.

I’d marry this wall if I could…

Kinda like a matching outfit. 🙂

When I landed that aqua wood on the curb, never in my wildest dreams did I think I’d be screwing it onto the wall.

I love it!

And in other workshop news, I’ve been playing musical tables. Remember those massive tables I found on the curb?

Well, I pulled in this big lug for a trial.

I really do need more indoor work space.

Which led me to go stand inside the house where I meant for this big lug to go, and try and figure out what to do in THAT room now.

And then I got so flustered, I went upstairs and folded laundry.

No wonder I can’t get this silly workshop done.

But I now have towels again, so there’s that…

In all seriousness… kinda everything has changed since going full time blogging. My needs have now all turned upside down in a good way, and I’m rethinking every single space that’s been tied up with day job stuff for so long. It’s exciting… but overwhelming. I’m trying to talk myself out of the fact that at times I feel I’ve outgrown my current home, because I’m doing my best to make it work.

It’s just… the junk stash needs white space. It’s multiplying like popcorn popping full throttle. But I really love everything inside or attached to the house, otherwise I’d spend all my time out of the house. I’m needed right here. I’m going to keep working this!

Anyone need to get rid of a well insulated barn attached to a cute little farmhouse on ½ an acre or so? Lake front would be a bonus.

My needs truly are simple…

What do you do when space runs tight for creating?

#15 – If in doubt, go fold laundry.

Life changes can change everything.
Map out your needs along with your wants for the best result.

Or just go fold laundry. Like me. 🙂

  1. Donna, I know just what you are talking about with the space, I want a little building that could be my potting shed/work space for my projects/ primitive room for my primitives. Our home is small we have a double garage attached to the house and a large metal garage with two bays, but these hold all my husbands tools and three motorcycles two cars and a pick up, no room for me there. We have a big basement, but it is full of storage containers, a bedroom set another motorcycle more tools and boxes and more boxes of my previous life, so you see I either need a bigger house or as I mentioned my own separate building, and since this house is paid for I opt for the building, oh what I could create with my own space, and I wouldn’t have to listen to why did you bring that home and what in the H are you going to do with that, LOL.

  2. I think all crafter’s have that dilemma of no space. My sewing room is shrinking as I speak. The more I learn from others and their crafts the more space I lose. Chalk paint is now my new trouble maker. I enjoy your posts and learning that junk can be a good thing!

  3. Hi Donna,
Every day you manage to make me smile… I’m thousands of miles away on the other side of the world but life holds so many similarities and connecting threads. I couldn’t agree more “If in doubt fold laundry” or sometimes in my case “Sweep the floor”… simple tasks, yielding an instant visible result and time to think! I love it. 🙂
    Cheers

  4. Hi Donna –
Ironically last night I picked up 5 old windows and my mother asked me what I would do with them and I shrugged and said, “Old Windows…I can do a ton of stuff with those old babies, we will have to see!” I just keep collecting and jokingly will say hoarding as our house and shed just keeps getting smaller because of all my “future” projects. Although last evening I was told I am “acquiring inventory” for my dream of one day having my own shop. I kinda liked that line, acquiring inventory…I will have to remember that one.
