Whenever each holiday season rolls around, my first thought is, ‘What kind of Christmas porch signs will I make this year?’

I love vertical porch christmas trees in particular! They make quite a statement. Plus they are so fun to customize, redecorating them differently each year if desired!

However, I like to crank the uniqueness up on any front porch sign a little by adding 3D elements to make them pop!

Since vertical porch Christmas signs are quite popular each festive season, I decided to finally pull all of mine (thus far) into one blog post, along with all the companion stencils you’d need to recreate the look, to make searching for supplies and inspiration effortless!

Supplies used:

 

While each sign below leads back to its original tutorial, these are the supplies that will be required for most of the Christmas porch signs:

3D elements such as 1.5″ cedar strips, real or faux evergreen branches, Christmas ornaments, faux snow, etc.

The following vertical Christmas porch signs are all done up Christmas tree-style! So rather than having a faux Christmas tree that eats up storage space, now you can have an easy-to-store flat christmas tree image with unique 3D elements to really make them pop!

Pallet Christmas tree

This whimsical wooden Christmas tree sign is made with real 1.5″ cedar strips! Use a stencil to create the design, then hot glue the wood strips on top.

The design includes a star tree topper, wooden old school tree stand, along with planks for the body of Christmas tree, along with individual words reading We Wish You A Merry Christmas for each wood plank.

Can be used with or without real wood planks.

The discreet background consists of mini snowflakes for a fresh fallen snow vibe.

Mini string lights would be ideal to add to this tree!

Merry Christma Tree with 3D real branches

This Merry Christmas porch sign is styled as a young seedling or Charlie Brown tree, with its sparse branches!

Use stencils to create the Merry Christmas sign can planter, then use the rest of the stencil as inspiration for the branch and faux evergreen branch placements.

Stencil a black sky backdrop with mini stars for a twinkling night ambiance.

Hang real ornaments as desired!

This little Christmas tree seedling has a secret… not only are all the images stenciled, you can also hand-paint on top to create charming little details you cannot stencil on! The image truly resembles a hand painted tree.

Comes with a companion stencil so you can add ornaments to this tree too!

This super simple stencil image is created so you have the ability to decorate the tree any way you wish! Shown is a pattern stenciled across the tree, however you can also stencil ornaments or even hang real ornaments and decorations as desired.

Herringbone Christmas Tree with real wood planks

If you’d like an enhanced version of a wood Christmas tree, this herringbone pattern is the one for you! It looks complicated to make, but it isn’t!

Included are mini board stencils you can use to measure each piece of wood. No endless measuring required! Stencil the tree image, then cut and hot glue on the planks to get this 3D look.

Design includes a tin tree topper with a circled 25, rustic pallet sayings that chime in with Christmas, plus unique screw heads, plus a metal tree stand to get the full industrial look!

The backdrop is a mix of mini snowflakes and twinkling stars for a whimsical nighttime ambiance.

And last but not least, we have a brand new wooden Christmas tree out for Christmas 2024! Meet Chevron Christmas Tree, teamed up with a wood plank body, metal star, retro tree stand and some funky junk hinges to decorate the tree with!

But we couldn’t release a new tree without a fun, new sky! Retro Star Sky is designed to work with Chevron Christmas Tree, and will most certainly add a burst of sparkle to a night sky! The scale is a little bolder than most of our other more discreet sky patterns.

While these two stencils are officially listed, I’ll be creating a real version of this tree shortly, so stay tuned! Along with more new Christmas stencils to soon follow!

Using chippy red wood from my parent’s farm, this warm, rustic JOY vertical porch sign has a giant snowflake replacing the O in Joy! It literally took minutes to make, while giving you a fabulous winter scenes vibe. Could you imagine blue chippy paint? So wintery!

  1. My kind of Christmas decor. If our purr babies see baubles, tinsel or anything resembling a proper Christmas tree, they become furry balls of mass destruction. Now I just need to decide which one of these beauties to try out, but I think the illuminated tree sign is calling my name. That’s gorgeous.
